This week Softwiss published quite an interesting piece that has to do with betting on cybersports, but here we are most interested in the topic with CS:GO. Fans of the game made a round number more bets in 2023, compared to last year.
According to the provided statistics, the following sports are especially popular for betting on Softswiss platform: soccer, basketball and tennis. But let's get back to CS.
Alexander Kamenetskyi, the head of Softswiss sportsbook, expressed his thoughts on the development of cybersports and gave advice to players on watching the dynamics of cybersports events.
Leading the top three in sports by betting amount comes as no surprise, but cybersports continues to impress with its impressive expansion. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has consolidated its position among the top 10 sports, showing an impressive 339% year-on-year increase in bets and a significant 388% increase in betting amount
Their words Alexander, the most important thing to emphasize:
- Fans made 339% more bets than last year
- The amount of bets increased by 388%
Next, Alexander reflected on other types of cyber sports disciplines:
League of Legends and Dota 2 are not far behind, lighting up the cybersports field. This is a reminder for us to keep an eye on eSports as the momentum continues to grow.
Statistics show that 78% of all bets were placed via mobile devices, while only 22% were bets placed on computers.
With the ability to bet via cell phones, people are showing a more spontaneous attitude towards this aspect and probably tend to bet more on sports, especially if it can be done via a handheld device.
What was also surprising was that 62% of bets were placed on LIVE, and the amount bet on live was twice as high as the amount bet on pre-match. Apparently, this has to do with the cam-betting mechanics in CS:GO.
