Alongside the gameplay updates in Patch 7.39, the Dota 2 developers have released several improvements to the game client. Valve has fixed various bugs, updated the user interface, added new in-game features, expanded the settings menu, and also made adjustments to the Ability Draft mode.
This article covers the full list of UI updates and other enhancements. The complete balance patch notes for 7.39 are available on Bo3.gg.
Patch 7.39 introduces numerous enhancements for item management and shopping efficiency. The new Team Items panel lets players see their teammates' current and queued items in real time helping to avoid overlapping builds like double Radiance.
Auto Deliver gives players the option to set their courier to automatically deliver items upon purchase, even visiting the Secret Shop if necessary. Mark for Buy allows you to flag items for future purchase and automatic delivery as soon as you have the gold, with optional buyback protection enabled.
The Improved Starting Item Display streamlines the pre-game shop by hiding irrelevant items, making your initial buys faster and clearer. A new Item Context Menu (activated by CTRL + Right-click) offers better control over your item queue. Additionally, Dota Plus Guides now adapt dynamically, updating recommendations based on your current build and progression during the match.
Communication has received a major refresh in 7.39. New Pings feature updated visuals and sounds, making it easier to convey intentions. When teammates pick up impactful items like Aegis of the Immortal or Refresher Shard, an icon now appears briefly above their hero for increased team awareness.
Minimap Route Display shows the travel path when using the "On my way" ping, improving coordination. The Status Labels system has been expanded to include conditions like Ethereal, Doomed, Untargetable, Teleporting, Channeling, and more—giving players more information at a glance.
Patch 7.39 brings a long-overdue overhaul to the settings interface. The New Settings UI is now cleaner, more accessible, and logically organized. Players can now search for settings directly using the Search Settings bar, eliminating the need to dig through endless submenus.
New Settings Discovery makes it easy to spot newly added options, while Chat Wheel and Ping Refresh improves customization of in-game communication tools. Players can now also Manage In-Game Notifications, ensuring that only relevant updates appear on their screen.
One of the most impactful changes in this update is the Hero Drafting system for Ability Draft. Players now draft a base hero before selecting abilities, introducing new layers of strategy and risk—should you grab a powerful spell, or a strong hero with valuable innate traits?
The mode also includes Facet Support, displaying which Facets are available based on the selected hero and abilities. This enables even deeper customization and synergy potential. Alongside these additions, Valve has carried out a Massive Clean-Up of the mode’s backend, reducing bugs and improving long-term stability.
Beyond gameplay, Patch 7.39 includes wide-ranging technical and visual improvements. Players can expect faster startup, reduced loading times, and higher in-game FPS.
The Post-Game and Spectator Graphs have been updated with clearer tooltips, a new damage chart, and markers for key replay moments. The MVP Screen now showcases Arcana and Persona backgrounds for heroes who’ve earned top honors.
A long-standing visual bug affecting dead neutral creeps has finally been resolved, and Vector Targeting Snapping Improvements have made it easier to aim abilities like Marci’s Rebound more reliably.
Patch 7.39 is more than just another update it’s a refinement of the entire Dota 2 experience. Whether you’re an item micro-manager, a settings tinkerer, or an Ability Draft strategist, this patch brings smoother, smarter tools to help you focus on what really matters: winning the game.
