A Reddit user with the nickname wylde_maps has published a new map for CS2 called "de_futurama" in the Steam workshop, which he shared on Reddit. The map takes players to the distant future, in the world of the popular animated series "Futurama", the action of which unfolds in the year 3024.
The map description states that the Planet Express building is under attack by space terrorists who want to disrupt the delivery of rockets to Omicron Persei 8. The terrorists can plant a bomb either in the hangar to blow up the ship or in the basement lava pit, which will cause a powerful exothermic reaction. It is up to the counter-terrorists to prevent the explosion by defusing the bomb and protecting the building.

One Reddit user with the nickname jonajon91 noted that due to CS's entrenchment in realistic art style, maps like this rarely make it into the game. As an example, he mentioned the "ar_lunacy" map, which included a view of the outside world through a hole in the roof.
Another user under the nickname _YAGNA_ agreed, adding that CS's move to a competitive level killed the element of fun that was inherent in the game's early days. One commenter expressed disappointment that many CS maps are created in the Italian style. He suggested that more unique maps should be added to the game, such as de_mutiny in a pirate setting, or maps based on fantasy worlds such as Jurassic Park or a space station orbiting Uranus. He also noted that the gameplay of a map can remain unchanged while offering players a variety of setting and story options.
Unique maps like "de_futurama" show that the CS content creation community continues to find new ways to diversify the gaming experience. Introducing fantasy worlds and creative scenarios can attract new players and give fresh emotions to veteran players.
