Riot Games announced the launch of a new ranked reimbursement system in League of Legends. From now on, players who lose a match due to the actions of a cheater will receive the lost LP back if such a player is detected and banned.
Fairness in Ranked Matches
The innovation, which will come into effect in the first quarter of 2025, is intended to increase players' trust in the ranked system. Previously, game matches with cheaters remained an unpleasant experience for honest players who lost rank without the possibility of compensation.
According to an official statement from Riot Games, the mechanism will work as follows: if after the game ends, the system detects a violator using third-party software and this player is banned, all players of the opposing team will receive LP reimbursement. This will be an automatic process that will not require additional actions from the affected players.

The developers also noted that the LP reimbursement will only apply to specific games where the cheater is confirmed, not all matches involving the banned player. In this way, Riot Games aims to avoid abuse and ensure compensation accuracy.
A New Level of Fight Against Cheaters
The LP reimbursement system is just one of the steps Riot Games is taking to combat fraud. Developers continue to improve the anti-cheat software Vanguard and plan to expand its functionality. The first results of the innovation will be noticeable in the first half of 2025.
