It's been a couple of weeks now since the launch of the brand new League of Legends season -- A season that introduced a new Noxus-themed map, a brand-new battle pass, and much more. One of those changes was the introduction of a new objective called Atakhan, this objective has two variants, each with its own buff to give the team that slays it an extra advantage.
But some fans are unhappy with how Atakhan has been used in pro play, with many taking to Reddit to express their displeasure with the new objective. Firstly, Atakhan has two versions, each dependent on how the game is playing out. If the game is a high-scoring game, meaning lots of kills, then Ruinous Atakhan will spawn, if it's a lower-scoring game, then Voracious Atakhan will spawn instead.
Ruinous Atakhan drops a significant number of petals which grants various stats, while Voracious grants you an extra life, known as False Life, which essentially works as a Guardians Angel, but instead of respawning where you died, players are returned to the fountain for another lease on life. This has made watching competitive play a little difficult for some fans, with the new lease on life from the Atakhan making for a rather stale game.
The original poster said, "It's hard to get excited over a team fight after one team kills Atakhan because you already know the outcome, the one with the buff wins even if they lose and that's just a mediocre viewing experience." It's understandable to think that way because fights when one team has the False Life buff on feel a little anti-climactic. Instead of getting a critical shutdown onto a carry, they are going back to the fountain where they will still have their bounty and the opposing team won't get much from it.
"The revive plus withdraw is a bit much," another player said. Clearly, this portion of the game is the least liked by players from all of the new changes introduced in the 2025 League of Legends season. The same commenter suggested a slight change, removing the withdrawal but making the revive similar to the old Aatrox revive. So, it still benefits the player that has the buff, but not make the fights as anticlimactic.
