Rumors: Closer Takes a Career Break After a Split with GIANTX

26-year-old jungler Can "Closer" Çelik has decided to take a break from his professional career after just one split with GIANTX in the LEC. This decision reportedly came as a surprise to the team, which is now forced to urgently find a replacement before the start of the spring split.

Unexpected Change

According to sources, Closer informed GIANTX of his intention to take a break only this week. The reasons for this decision remain unknown, but it is noted that the player is doing so for personal reasons. Meanwhile, GIANTX is already in talks with potential candidates for the jungler position, but no final choice has been made yet.

This is a challenge for the coaching staff, particularly for head coach André "Guilhoto" Guilhoto. Back in January, he stated that Closer is a player who can bring the leadership qualities the team lacked. GIANTX chose him after another option, Martin "Yike" Sundelin, signed with Karmine Corp.

Closer's career began in Turkey with Royal Bandits, from where he made it to the 2019 World Championship. He later moved to North America, where he played for Golden Guardians and 100 Thieves, winning the LCS in 2021. Over two years, he competed at Worlds but failed to advance past the group stage both times.

In 2024, Closer returned to Europe, joining Karmine Corp and helping the team recover from two last-place finishes in the LEC. Although he spent just one split with GIANTX, he managed to establish himself as one of the best junglers in Europe.
