Grinding Gear Games has finally unveiled one of the most awaited features of Path of Exile 2 the in-game marketplace. To be released with the Third Edict update launching August 29, 2025, the system will enable the sale of goods even when an account is logged off. It is a complete turnaround from the current barter system and will make trading a whole lot more convenient.
How the new system works
Trading will be based on special Merchant’s Tabs, which can be purchased with in-game points or converted from old Premium Stash Tabs. Each item placed in a Merchant’s Tab is assigned a price, after which it appears on the official Path of Exile website.

When a buyer selects an item, their character is automatically teleported to a hidden version of the seller’s hideout, where an NPC finalizes the trade. The seller can then collect their earned gold at any time via a dedicated “Earnings” tab.
Available on all platforms
The in-game trading system will not only work on PC but will integrate into the console platforms. This will make sure that everyone will have the same effortless trading experience no matter what platform is chosen. This is another step to make trading more accessible to even more people.

What’s next
The developers already have plans to expand this feature in future updates. A full-fledged in-game item search system has been confirmed, and the community is actively requesting additional features such as saved search queries and quick access to favorite listings.
The Third Edict update represents a major milestone for Path of Exile 2. For the first time in the game’s history, players will be able to conveniently sell items without needing to stay online. This new system is set to make the in-game economy more dynamic and provide a significantly smoother experience for players.
