The highly anticipated Overwatch 2 collaboration with Gundam Wing officially kicks off today, April 29, adding iconic mecha anime representatives to Blizzard's heroic shooter. In celebration of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing's 30th anniversary, Blizzard has transformed four beloved heroes into legendary mobile suits, available as exclusive skins, bundles, and special limited-time rewards.
Players can now purchase four new legendary skins in the in-game store, each inspired by one of the most famous mobile suits from Gundam Wing. The lineup includes:
Each skin can be purchased individually for 2800 Overwatch coins (approximately $28) or all together in the Overwatch 2 x Gundam Wing Mega Bundle for 5900 coins ($59).
In addition to the skins, players can complete new in-game challenges to unlock exclusive Gundam Wing-themed cosmetic rewards, including:
These rewards are free and unlock simply by participating in matches during the event, giving fans even more reasons to dive into the world of Overwatch 2.
Blizzard's art team made special efforts to maintain a balance between the unique styles of Overwatch and Gundam Wing. In an interview, Art Director Dion Rogers and Associate Product Director Amy Dennett revealed that the team closely studied Gunpla models (Gundam model kits) to capture authentic details in the new skins.
While other hero and mobile suit pairings were considered in early stages — such as Ana as Tallgeese or Mauga as Heavyarms — the final choices were made to preserve the recognizable silhouettes and characters of Overwatch heroes.
Dennett also confirmed that the decision was made to base the skins on designs from the Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz film, rather than mixing styles from the series and its sequel.
The Overwatch 2 x Gundam Wing event will run from April 29 to May 12, 2025. During these two weeks, players can acquire new legendary skins in the in-game store, complete challenges, and enjoy exclusive Gundam-themed content.
