In the new Haunted Masquerade mode, players can wear a mask to gain abilities from a specific hero — for example, Orisa's spear, Sojourn's Disruption Field, or Winston's ability to use Tracer’s Rewind. Some lore-linked pairs even provide special synergy effects, such as Reinhardt and Brigitte, who can combine their shields.

In addition to the new mode, the 19th season of Overwatch 2 will bring back two Halloween classics — Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride, cooperative PvE missions set in the village of Adlersbrunn. Blizzard describes their return as "classic horror," where players once again unite to fight waves of zombie Omnics and eerie bosses.

Competitive mode fans will also receive new content. The Stadium mode will feature three new heroes — Torbjörn, Hazard, and Sojourn Fight, while the Busan’s Sanctuary Control map will join the rotation. The update also adds Gadgets — single-use items designed to change the course of battle, including Kitsune Charm for debuff removal and Jet Skates for quick escapes.

The new battle pass will be the centerpiece of the season’s cosmetic updates, highlighted by the Divine Druid Lifeweaver Mythic Skin and Kiriko’s Spirit Keeper Mythic Weapon Skin. Mid-season, Cyber Fuel Junkrat will join them. Legendary and Epic Skins capture the Halloween spirit — including Oni Cassidy, Vampire Moira, and Cursed Woods Echo.

Players seeking more can purchase the Ultimate Battle Pass, which includes level boosters, Overwatch Coins, and exclusive Legendary Costumes. Seasonal Shop Collections will change from late October to early November, offering Archangel and Spirit-themed skin bundles.
