Blizzard is preparing to release the mid-season update for Overwatch 2 (Season 15) on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time (PT) / 6:00 PM UTC. This update will be one of the most content-rich, introducing significant hero and perk balance changes, the return of classic game modes, and a major crossover with the K-POP group LE SSERAFIM.
Possible Key Highlights Update Details
- Hero and Perk Balancing: Adjustments to both overly strong and weak perks.
- New Cosmetic Items: Mythic weapon for Widowmaker, Twitch Drops, and the Rainy Day bundle.
- Collaboration with LE SSERAFIM: Five new skins and their recolored versions, inspired by the HOT album.
- Return of 6v6 in Competitive Mode: A major test for the potential return of classic Overwatch.
- Overwatch Classic – GOATS Meta: A nostalgic return to one of the game's most famous meta compositions.
- Freja's Test Event: The first chance to try the new DPS hero before Season 16.
- Competitive Drive Competition: Another opportunity to earn Cosmic weapons.

Major Perk and Hero Balance Changes
One of the key goals of this update is to balance perks, as the new system has significantly impacted gameplay. Blizzard has already confirmed some changes for the heroes:
- Roadhog's Hog Toss will now deal additional damage when combined with a trap.
- Juno's double jump will be enhanced, allowing her to glide longer in the air.
- Bastion's self-healing will receive a resource counter to prevent infinite health regeneration.
While the full list of changes has not yet been released and will require waiting for the patch notes, it's evident that Blizzard plans to nerf overly strong perks and improve less effective ones ahead of Season 16.

- Juno
- Illari
- D.Va
- Mercy
- Ashe
Additionally, updated "Blue Flame" versions of previous LE SSERAFIM skins will be introduced, along with a free Junkrat skin obtainable by completing in-game challenges. The event will also feature exclusive cosmetics, challenges, and in-game activities.

New Mythic Weapon for Widowmaker
Widowmaker will receive a long-awaited mythic weapon skin. The concept art has already showcased an elegant and stylish design. Players can purchase this skin for 50 prisms, with all enhancements requiring an additional 30 prisms. A special bundle will also be available for $40, allowing immediate unlocking of all upgrades.
Return of Classic Game Modes
For fans of classic Overwatch, Blizzard is bringing back Overwatch Classic—a temporary mode where old metas from Overwatch 1 reappear in Overwatch 2. This time, players can experience the GOATS meta—a heavy tank composition that once dominated professional competitions.
The 6v6 Competitive mode will also return. Unlike Overwatch Classic, this version will include all current heroes and perks. This is another experiment by Blizzard aimed at potentially bringing back the 6v6 format in the future.

Twitch Drops and Free Rewards
The update will also add new Twitch Drops, allowing players to receive the exclusive Lifeweaver OWCS skin by simply watching Overwatch Champions Series streams on Twitch. Other cosmetic rewards, including sprays, player engravings, and skins, will also be available as part of the promotion. All this starts from March 17 and will run until the 30th.

Testing the New Hero – Freja
Blizzard is preparing for the release of the new DPS hero, Freja, in Season 16 of Overwatch 2. Before the official launch, a test event will be held where players can try out the new hero and provide feedback. This event is expected to significantly increase wait times for DPS players but will also allow the community to evaluate the new character before its release.

Blizzard continues to focus on perks, hero balance, and new content, indicating that the mid-season update will serve as a preparation for an even larger Season 16. Players can look forward to new events in competitive mode, offering the chance to earn Cosmic weapons and exclusive rewards.
