Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios Confirm Grounded 2 Launch for July 29, 2025The sequel to the popular survival game set in a miniature world will launch in early access on Xbox Series X|S, PC (including Steam), and will be available day one via Game Pass.

What’s New in Grounded 2

New Location – Brookhollow Park Set in the year 1992, the game transports players to a massive park, several times larger than the familiar backyard from the first game. Players will be able to explore:

• Frozen patches of spilled ice cream
• Poisonous ant hills
• Retro-style areas such as snack vending machines, dumpsters, and sandboxes

Mounts and Combat Updates

For the first time, players can tame insects. You’ll be able to ride ants, orb-weaver spiders, and other creatures. The combat system has been improved for more dynamic gameplay:

• Enemies now react to player actions
• Dodge mechanics have been added
• Active mutations allow for better gameplay customization

Multitool and More User-Friendly

Gear One of the main QoL (quality of life) improvements is the new Omni-Tool, which combines a shovel, hammer, axe, and wrench into one device. No more cluttering your inventory with a dozen tools.

Story and Narrative Expansion

The story continues from the original, with the same characters — two years later. The campaign will expand over time via updates and community feedback. Expect more dialogues, mysteries, and new NPCs.

“Grow Together” Development Approach Grounded 2 will follow the same Game Preview / Early Access model as its predecessor. The developers promise a transparent roadmap, frequent patches, and strong community engagement.
