Netmarble released Game of Thrones: Kingsroad on May 21, 2025, for PC and mobile platforms. This story-driven action-RPG with an open world takes place between Seasons 3 and 4 of the series. Players take on the role of a bastard from House Tyre, who seeks to restore his family’s honor after the tragedy of the Red Wedding.
Players in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad can choose from a total of three classes — Knight, Mercenary, and Assassin. Each class has special skills and a respective combat approach that has a profound effect on gameplay and tactics of battle.
The game features an open world available for exploration: familiar Westeros destinations like King’s Landing, the Arbor, the Wall, and Castle Black may be traveled through, interacted with through non-player characters, and visited through quests.
The fighting system is based on dynamic combat with manual direction. Players may parry and block enemy attacks and chain attacks together into efficient combos.
There's also a co-op mode where players can group together and challenge strong opponents — like mythical beasts in the heart of the wierdwood woods.
Fans of the series will be familiar with many of the characters. Jon Snow, Varys, Jaime, and Cersei Lannister all make appearances in the game - not as cameos, but as full-featured characters.

Players of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad are divided into two camps. Some praise the game for its story and atmosphere, while others are disappointed by aggressive monetization.
On the positive side, fans highlight the deep narrative and surprisingly well-crafted story that truly feels like an authentic continuation of the Game of Thrones universe. The combat system gradually reveals more complexity, and character progression provides a rewarding sense of growth. For those who enjoy slow-paced, story-rich RPGs, the game may be a pleasant surprise.
Nevertheless, other players give scathing negative reviews. Criticisms levelled at it include pay-to-win mechanics and grinding, a dearth of worthwhile co-op features and an old-fashioned mobile-style monetization system. It's nearly impossible to get better gear without spending a dime, and non-paying customers sentence themselves to farming forever, as put by critics.
The majority of the criticisms concern monetization. Nevertheless, gamers who don't set their expectations high and appreciate story complexity tend to be pleased with the outcome. The game has a "Mixed" rating on Steam and has approximately 63% positive reviews at present.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad presents a fresh story in a well-known universe on both PC and smartphones. Although the game promises much through its rich story and open world experience, what it has thus far and the monetization method produce varied opinions.
