Epic Games is trying to bring Fortnite back to the iOS App Store in the U.S., but things aren’t going smoothly. They submitted the game for review on May 9, 2025, but didn’t get a response from Apple for five days — even though Apple usually reviews apps within 24 hours. Because of the delay, Epic withdrew the submission and sent in a new version on May 14 to keep up with the game’s regular update schedule.
The delay upset Epic’s CEO, Tim Sweeney, who said that Apple’s silence is making it harder to keep the game updated across all platforms at the same time. This situation is part of a long-running legal conflict between Epic and Apple. Back in 2020, Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store because Epic introduced a direct payment method to avoid Apple’s 30% fee. A recent court ruling said Apple must let developers include other payment options, but Apple is appealing the decision, keeping tensions high.
If everything goes well this time, Fortnite could return to the U.S. iOS App Store as early as May 16. Still, after the last delay, players aren’t getting their hopes up too much. Epic hasn’t promised any special rewards for iOS users, but in the past, they’ve often given out free in-game items during major returns.
So for now, Fortnite’s come back on iPhone in the U.S. is uncertain, and fans will have to wait for more updates from Epic Games.
