After a 15-year hiatus, the legendary tactical shooter franchise Delta Force is officially returning. The game is being relaunched under the new name Delta Force: Hawk Ops as a free-to-play project that combines large-scale PvP battles and extreme rescue missions. Open beta testing started on December 4, 2024. The game promises new dynamics, maps, and exciting modern mechanics that will test tactical skills and team coordination.

The open beta testing marks the beginning of the first Delta Force season, called Genesis, and introduces two separate game modes: Warfare and Operations. In Warfare, players will compete in 32v32 PvP matches on large battlefields, while Operations focuses on rescue missions where players must acquire valuable loot and escape alive, while facing enemy operatives trying to do the same.
Tactical Evolution
The return of Delta Force is not just nostalgia. Developer TiMi Studio Group has significantly updated the franchise formula. The game now takes place in the fictional war-torn country of Ahsarah. In a world where private military contractors go up against the remnants of a devastated national army, players assume the role of operatives for the Global Threat Intervention (GTI) initiative, an international peacekeeping force.

Delta Force introduces a character-focused combat system that retains the tactical depth of past installments but integrates abilities akin to hero shooters like Apex Legends and Overwatch.
Players can choose from eight unique GTI operatives, each with specialized roles, from assault to reconnaissance, and possess unique gadgets and abilities.
The combination of role-specific equipment and ability synergy adds a new level of strategy as players can coordinate actions to overcome stronger enemies.
While some hero abilities may sometimes seem superhuman, Delta Force maintains its tactical roots. Characters are fragile, so accuracy, coordination, and smart positioning remain crucial.
Maps are vast and include diverse locations, such as an abandoned freight yard and a destroyed urban area, offering numerous opportunities for hiding, ambushes, and unexpected maneuvers.

A New Era for Multiplayer Fans
Regarding progression, Delta Force has a robust leveling system, where players gain experience for successful reconnaissance, assistance, and providing fire support. Experience is awarded not only for operatives but also for weapons, allowing players to gradually unlock new gear and abilities. This ensures that every playstyle, from assault to support, makes a valuable contribution to team success.
The Operations mode introduces high-stakes loot-based mechanics. When players embark on rescue missions, they risk losing everything upon death, making strategic thinking and team coordination extremely important.
Successful missions are rewarded with in-game currency, which can be spent on new gear, weapons, and cosmetic upgrades. The open beta also includes an auction where players can buy and sell items for additional customization.

For those concerned about game balance, the Delta Force developers assure that it does not use a "pay-to-win" model. Weapon skins, costumes, and other cosmetic items are available through microtransactions but do not offer a competitive advantage. This approach ensures that skills and strategy remain the primary factors in the game.

What's Next for Delta Force?
After the start of the open beta testing, Delta Force will receive regular updates, adding new weapons, vehicles, mechanics, and servers in the coming weeks. As Delta Force is now poised to compete with games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends, it promises to attract both fans of the original series and newcomers to the tactical shooter genre.

For long-time fans, a remaster of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down from 2003 is also being prepared, allowing a new generation of players to experience one of the franchise's most iconic campaigns with updated graphics and mechanics.
The open beta testing of Delta Force is now available, and with much more to come, it is clear that the series is ready for the next chapter.
