The new trailer reveals Iceshard Cliffs and the return of fan-favorite monsters
The premier took place during Capcom's presentation of Monster Hunter Wilds. In the trailer, players got their first look at Iceshard Cliffs—a mountainous snowy area inhabited by both new and familiar monsters. Among them is Hirabami, a new Leviathan that can glide in the air thanks to sail-like membranes and strike with a sharp tail.
Also returning are two fan-favorite monsters: Nerscylla—a spider-like predator known for its poisonous attacks, and Gore Magala, the mysterious elder dragon from Monster Hunter 4. Whether its unique Frenzy Virus mechanic will return is still unknown.
Details of the second open beta test
Capcom announced the second open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds, giving players another chance to try the game before its official release. The beta test will be conducted in two phases:
- February 6 at 7:00 PM PT – February 9 at 6:59 PM PT
- February 13 at 7:00 PM PT – February 16 at 6:59 PM PT
This test will feature new content, including a battle with Arkveld, the flagship monster "White Phantom," as well as the return of Gypceros. New online features have been added, including private lobbies and a single-player online mode.
Players will again be able to create characters, complete a storyline mission, and participate in cross-platform multiplayer battles. Meanwhile, Capcom clarified that the latest balance and performance updates will not be available in this version, as they are still being finalized for the full release of the game.
Customization options, improvements for PS5 Pro, and PC testing tool
In addition to expanded content, Capcom introduced new customization features in Monster Hunter Wilds. Players can change the appearance of their temporary camps, customize their interior, tent colors, background music, and other elements. The Hunter Profile system will replace traditional Guild Cards, offering more personalization options.
For PlayStation 5 Pro owners, the game will receive graphical enhancements thanks to ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology, providing even more realistic visuals. PC owners can already download the Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark Tool on Steam to test their systems' performance before the game's launch.
Post-release plans and limited-time game events
Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will receive regular updates after launch, including limited-time quests that will be available a week after release. Completing these tasks will allow players to earn unique armor and other rewards. Additional updates are also planned for the future.
Monster Hunter Wilds releases worldwide on February 28, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are now open, and players can receive exclusive bonuses for early purchase.
