With each passing chapter, the hype around the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga increases and so does the anticipation of the fans around the next chapter. There seems to be plenty for them to grasp as chapter 26 is officially scheduled for September 20, 2025, 10 AM EST / 3 PM UTC for the first release. Both Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump app will make the chapter accessible for free.

Return of Kakashi

While the rivalry between Boruto and Kawaki has been interesting to follow, the original series fans wait for something grander, their wish has been granted with the return of beloved characters from the original series. One character has set the fandom abuzz for the return of Kakashi Hatake.

Kakashi’s popularity puts into stark contrast the fact that the Boruto manga has largely ignored him. Mikio Ikemoto, the author, has been reported to state something along the lines of, “Kakashi still has an important part to play, though.” None of this tells us Kakashi’s true purpose, when questioned, Ikemoto responded, “What a mystery. Not that I can say anything about it.” These vague and confusing statements have led fans to wonder whether, or not, the time for Kakashi’s comeback has come.

With Naruto and Sasuke’s absence, having Naruto sealed and Sasuke incapacitate, puts Boruto into a situation devoid of the legendary characters. Kakashi’s reintroduction into the storyline would help creatively and emotionally restore that sentiment. His guidance, unique skills like Purple Lightning, wisdom, and legacy as the mentor for Team 7, aligns him with the current era, letting him act as a bridge to narrate the tradition.

In addition, with sales of manga said to be declining, adding Kakashi could bring new life to the series. Naruto fans who have stopped watching Boruto will have a reason to come back, and will ensure the series is just as exciting as the last few arcs.

What to Expect in Chapter 26

As we await a release date for even more chapters there is a strong possibility that unfinished chapter 26 will hold a tussle between  Boruto and the many new adversaries that he is likely to come across in the new Konoha. He might also make new recruits.  If in fact Kakashi is coming back, he might turn the story upside down. Boruto and the new generation are in dire need for the guidance that he might add to the story. His new found presence will surely balance the overpowering story line.
