Blizzard Released Overwatch: Classic — A Temporary Nostalgic Mode in Overwatch

Blizzard Entertainment launched Overwatch: Classic — a limited-time mode in Overwatch 2 that honors the original game released eight years ago. This special event allows players to dive back into the classic 6v6 gameplay with the original roster of heroes, their abilities, and iconic maps.

The Overwatch: Classic event brought back gameplay elements from various eras in the game's history, such as the “Moth Meta 2017” and “Goats,” which included three tanks and three support heroes in a team composition. The first Overwatch: Classic event focuses on the 2016 release, bringing back the original heroes and their abilities as they were at the launch of Overwatch, with all the features and chaotic gameplay that fans of the time remember fondly.

The initial days of the Overwatch: Classic event include the "No Hero Limit" mode, which allows players to use multiple instances of the same hero on a team — a rule that existed in the original game. Blizzard will also restore the original values for ultimate charge rate, health pool, and projectile size to recreate the true classic Overwatch experience.

This event will be a unique opportunity for veterans to relive the game's iconic moments and for new players to experience for the first time some mechanics and team dynamics that defined the game in its early years.

Blizzard promises that this celebration of Overwatch history will offer fans a fresh yet nostalgic look at the world of Overwatch and invites everyone to return to immerse themselves once again in classic team gameplay.
