It is best to start the game in the Hagga Basin South area. This is a safe territory that provides access to essential resources, water, and the trading post Griffin’s Reach. Nearby, there is also the Alcyon shipwreck, where you can obtain valuable blueprints and materials. It is recommended to build your base on rocky terrain near the trader or right under the trading post. This will provide protection from sandstorms and reduce the likelihood of a sandworm attack.

First quests and resource gathering

At the beginning, it is important to focus on completing the main story quest. It unlocks access to new technologies, vehicles, and new zones. At the same time, start gathering basic resources:

• plant fibers for clothing and equipment
• copper ore for crafting tools
• blood from enemies (Scavengers), which can be used to extract water

You also need to craft a simple set of weapons, such as a knife or sword, and build the first basic structure with furnaces to smelt resources.

Important early locations

Mihna Cavern cave in Hagga Basin South

This is where the first trial (Trial of Aql) is located. You will receive a blueprint and access to new equipment. This place is relatively safe and easy to reach at an early stage.

Alcyon shipwreck and Imperial Testing Station No. 2

In these locations, you can find many valuable components and crafting blueprints, as well as complete additional story quests. It is recommended to go there after completing the first trial.

Eastern Vermilius Gap region

This is where the second trial takes place. Completing it grants access to the Static Compactor — a useful device for processing resources. However, it’s better to return to this area once you have access to an ornithopter or stronger equipment.

Western Vermilius Gap region

The third trial is located in this area. Part of the altar is destroyed, but you can find fragments of history and receive bonuses here.

Always monitor your water supply and use the Stillsuit to reduce fluid consumption. Avoid building your base on sand because sandworms are active there. During sandstorms, take shelter in buildings or under rocks. Do not ignore quests that lead to choosing a class — the best starter class is considered Mentat, as it provides a combat companion who significantly helps in battles. Avoid open spaces without transportation because when you get the ornithopter, the gameplay becomes much more dynamic.

The recommended order of actions is as follows: first complete the tutorial and build a base in Hagga Basin South. Then complete the quest "Echoes from the Past" and unlock the first trial. After that, explore the Alcyon shipwreck and the Imperial Testing Station. Gather copper, stone, fibers, and craft equipment. Then complete the second trial in Eastern Vermilius Gap and choose a trainer and class to activate new skills.

The main focus at the start is to secure basic needs: water, resources, protection. After that, concentrate on completing the first two trials to unlock important blueprints and upgrades. Don’t rush to open complex regions until you have proper equipment. Start simple, follow a logical sequence — and your start will be confident.
