In Palia, Batterfly Beans are rare plants introduced with the new Elderwood zone. They are required for completing story quests such as Bugging Out and Magic and Maji, and are also used in cooking.
Batterfly Beans most commonly grow at the base of large trees. You can find them in Elderwood areas such as Mitana Grove, Honeymiel Slope, Deep Woods, and Jenesse Pass. Players recommend carefully inspecting the ground around tree roots, especially in the area between Honeymiel Slope and Jenesse Pass. Note: these beans are rarely found near purple trees — instead, look for trees with thick brown trunks.
Batterfly Beans appear as small plants with pink pods and can be easy to miss among other vegetation, so keep a sharp eye out. They can be harvested manually and will respawn over time, so it’s worth returning to the same locations every few in-game days.
After collecting wild Batterfly Beans, you may obtain seeds from them. These can be used to grow the beans on your own farm. To plant them, you’ll need a 2×2 plot on your garden bed. The plant takes about six in-game days to grow and yields 6 beans, or 9 if you have an active harvest bonus.
To improve growth, it's recommended to use fertilizers like SpeedyGrow. Also, make sure to water the plant regularly and remove weeds, or it won’t grow properly.
These beans serve multiple purposes in the game. First, they are needed for quests — for example, Bugging Out requires 3 beans, while Magic and Maji needs 10. Secondly, they are used in cooking recipes, such as Bean Burger, Soon Tofu, Mashed Beans, and Veggie Chili. Finally, Batterfly Beans can be eaten directly to restore 15 Focus.
To quickly gather the required number of Batterfly Beans, it’s best to follow a daily route through Mitana Grove and Honeymiel Slope, paying close attention to tree roots. If you’re lucky enough to find a few seeds, farming them becomes the most convenient and stable source for collecting these beans.
