WARDOGS has a large number of controls because the game combines infantry combat, ground vehicles, helicopters, building, and voice communication. On PC, the main control method is still keyboard and mouse, but the game also supports Xbox and PlayStation 5 controllers.
In this guide, we will cover WARDOGS controls, the main WARDOGS keybinds, WARDOGS controller support, and how the WARDOGS gamepad works for infantry, ground vehicles, and air vehicles.
WARDOGS Keybinds: Keyboard and Mouse
The standard WARDOGS keybinds are divided into several categories. This allows the same key to be used for different actions depending on whether you are on foot, in a ground vehicle, or in a helicopter.
Movement Keybinds
Action | Key |
Forward | W |
Backward | S |
Strafe Left | A |
Strafe Right | D |
Sprint | Left Shift |
Slow Walk | Alt |
Jump | Space |
Crouch | C |
Crouch Prone | Unbound |
Prone | Ctrl |
Lean Left | Q |
Lean Right | E |
The basic layout uses the standard WASD setup. Left Shift is used for Sprint, Alt for Slow Walk, while Q and E are used to lean left and right.
There is no separate Crouch Prone button bound by default — it is left as Unbound.

Interaction Keybinds
Interacting with objects is performed with F by default.
Action | Key |
Interact | F |
This key is also used for Give Up in the UI.
Communication and Voice Chat
The WARDOGS controls include several separate commands for voice chat.
Action | Key |
Enable/Disable Voice Chat | Unbound |
Enable/Disable Voice Chat (Scoreboard) | U |
Push-to-Talk (Squad) | J |
Push-to-Talk (Proximity) | K |
Ping | Middle Mouse Button |
Ping Wheel | Hold Middle Mouse Button |
Tip | F1 |
Reject Tip | F2 |
Bribe | F1 |
By default, the main Enable/Disable Voice Chat action is Unbound, but you can toggle it through the Scoreboard with U.
There are also two Push-to-Talk binds: J for Squad and K for Proximity.
Ping is assigned to pressing the mouse wheel. Holding the Middle Mouse Button opens the Ping Wheel.

Build Tool Keybinds
Building actions have their own WARDOGS keybinds.
Action | Key |
Throttle | W |
Brake | S |
Steer Right | D |
Steer Left | A |
Handbrake | Space |
Gear Shift R | R |
In other words, W controls the throttle, S controls the brake, and A/D are used for steering.
Rotary Vehicle Keybinds
Helicopters and other rotary-wing vehicles use a separate control system.
Action | Key |
Collective Raise | Left Shift |
Collective Lower | Ctrl |
Increase Cyclic X | W |
Decrease Cyclic X | S |
Increase Cyclic Y | D |
Decrease Cyclic Y | A |
Yaw Left | Q |
Yaw Right | E |
WARDOGS uses separate controls for the Collective, Cyclic, and Yaw.
This is important for new pilots because helicopter controls are significantly different from those used for regular ground vehicles.
Missile Keybinds
Missiles use separate Cyclic controls:
Action | Key |
Increase Cyclic X | W |
Decrease Cyclic X | S |

General Vehicle Keybinds
Several keys are assigned to general vehicle functions.
Action | Key |
Next Seat | 0 |
Previous Seat | 9 |
Lock/Unlock Vehicle | L |
Activate Counter Measure | V |
Buy Ammo / Supplies | B |
Deploy Supply Crate | G |
Horn | H |
The most important commands include Next Seat, Previous Seat, Counter Measure, and the commands for replenishing ammunition and supplies.
Vehicle Weapons Keybinds
Vehicle weapons also have their own group of controls.
Action | Key |
Fire Weapon | Left Mouse Button |
Cycle Weapons | Z |
Cycle Fire Mode | B |
Eject From Projectile | C |
Vehicle Weapon Pitch Up | W |
Vehicle Weapon Pitch Down | S |
Vehicle Weapon Yaw Left | A |
Vehicle Weapon Yaw Right | D |
This means WASD can control either the vehicle itself or its weapons depending on the current mode.
Vehicle Camera Keybinds
Action | Key |
Toggle Free Look | Alt |
Toggle Camera Mode | C |
Camera Left View | Left Arrow |
Camera Right View | Right Arrow |
Camera Rear View | Down Arrow |
Camera Zoom In | Page Up |
Camera Zoom Out | Page Down |
Free Look is toggled with Alt, while C changes the camera mode. The arrow keys allow you to quickly check the left, right, and rear sides of the vehicle.

UI and Map Keybinds
General UI controls:
Action | Key |
Pause Menu | Esc |
Inventory | Tab |
Scoreboard | Mouse Button |
Give Up | F |
Chat | Enter |
Toggle Vault | V |
Map controls:
Action | Key |
Tactical Map | M |
Recenter Tactical Map | X |
Zoom Minimap In | [ |
Zoom Minimap Out | ] |
There are also separate controls for Active Reload:
- Up Arrow — Active Reload Up
- Right Arrow — Active Reload Right
- Left Arrow — Active Reload Left
- Down Arrow — Active Reload Down
WARDOGS Controller Support
WARDOGS controller support on PC includes support for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 controllers.
The layout depends on the controller, but the overall logic is almost the same. Xbox uses A/B/X/Y buttons, while PlayStation uses Cross/Circle/Square/Triangle.
The most important thing is that WARDOGS has separate controller layouts for:
- Infantry;
- Ground Vehicles;
- Air Vehicles.
Because of this, a button that performs one action on foot can have a completely different function after you enter a vehicle or helicopter.

Can You Rebind WARDOGS Gamepad Controls?
This is one area where you should be careful with information about the WARDOGS gamepad.
The standard controller layouts are clearly defined for Xbox and PS5, but the ability to fully rebind every button should not be treated as equivalent to the PC keybind system.

On keyboard, the game has a large number of separate bindings covering movement, weapons, vehicles, helicopters, building, and the UI. The controller system is much more limited, and some actions simply do not have their own dedicated button.
If the standard layout does not work for you, check the available controller settings in the current version of the game and consider using Steam Input.
Steam Input as a Workaround
If you need a more flexible WARDOGS gamepad layout, you can use Steam Input.
This allows you to create a custom layout and assign keyboard commands to controller buttons. For example, you can assign separate buttons to Q/E for Lean, R for Reload, or J/K for Push-to-Talk.
This option is especially useful if you do not have enough controller buttons for a particular action or want to change the vehicle controls.
However, Steam Input does not add a new controller system to the game. It simply lets you control which inputs are sent to the game.
Voice Chat Problems and Keybind Issues
If voice chat is not working, first check its keybinds. On PC:
- Enable/Disable Voice Chat — Unbound;
- Enable/Disable Voice Chat (Scoreboard) — U;
- Squad Push-to-Talk — J;
- Proximity Push-to-Talk — K.
On controller, Toggle Voice Chat is assigned to D-Pad Down.
If you are using Steam Input, also check that the button is not assigned to another keyboard command at the same time.
After changing your layout, it is also worth checking Ping, Reload, Interact, and voice chat. These commands are frequently used during combat, so a bad bind becomes noticeable very quickly.

Best WARDOGS Controls for PC and Gamepad
For PC, keyboard and mouse remain the best option, especially if you spend a lot of time playing infantry. The large number of separate keys allows you to quickly use equipment, communicate with your team, manage building, and switch between vehicle functions.

WARDOGS controller support makes the game more accessible for players who prefer a gamepad. Xbox and PS5 have separate layouts for infantry, ground vehicles, and air vehicles.
If the standard controller layout does not work for you, first check the available in-game settings and then use Steam Input to create a custom layout.
The most important thing to remember is that the same button can perform different actions depending on whether you are on foot, in a ground vehicle, or in the air.
