The updated version of the cult classic Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater offers players a wide range of difficulty options. In total, there are six modes available: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme, and European Extreme. Each comes with its own unique features and significantly affects the overall gameplay experience.
For Beginners
The Very Easy and Easy modes are designed for newcomers to the series or those who simply want to enjoy the story without too much challenge. In these modes, players have more health, enemies react more slowly to suspicious actions, and additional gadgets such as motion sensors are available.
In Very Easy, the protagonist even receives the special EZ Gun with infinite tranquilizer rounds, which makes progression much easier.

A Balanced Experience
Normal is the classic option recommended for most players. Enemies here are more alert compared to the easier modes, but the game remains fair and doesn’t punish mistakes too harshly. This difficulty best reflects the developers’ vision: a balance between jungle survival, stealth, and combat encounters.
For Veterans Players seeking a greater challenge should choose Hard. Enemies become more aggressive, detect movement faster, and the player’s health bar is reduced. Survival turns into a true test of skill, where every mistake can be very costly.

The Ultimate Trial
Extreme and especially European Extreme are the ultimate challenges for fans of the series. On Extreme, Snake has significantly less health, enemies react instantly, and they deal much higher damage. European Extreme raises the stakes even further: a single detection means an instant Game Over. This mode is reserved for those who want to experience maximum tension and prove their stealth mastery.

Control Style and Its Impact
Especially new are the choices for two control styles: Legacy Style with the original fixed-camera position that offers the feel of the original game, and New Style with third-person view as inspired by the original game.
Choice of style also has an impact on difficulty: the new camera adds more playability and user-friendliness, while the original view adds more challenge. For this reason, the play style cannot be altered while playthrough occurs—the balance of difficulty can never shift.
Metal Gear Solid Delta has an utterly massive array of difficulty settings which cater for everyone from those who want to play and experience the storyline, as much as those who crave serious difficulty.
Newplayers are best served starting at Very Easy or Easy and slowly work their way incrementally into the game environment. Veteran gamers would do best at Normal or Hard, while serious enthusiasts seeking the ultimate test of skill should play at Extreme or European Extreme.
