In Silksong, one of Hornet’s first key abilities is Swift Step, which combines the functions of a classic dash and a sprint. It allows you to move faster, dodge attacks, and overcome difficult platforming sections.

What is Swift Step

This ability works in two modes. A quick tap of the button activates a short forward dash. If you hold the button, Hornet transitions into a sprint and can run across longer stretches. This makes combat more dynamic and platforming smoother.

Where to Find It

To unlock Swift Step, you need to reach the Deep Docks area. In its northern part, there is a special insect shrine where the ability is granted. You can get there by exploring the lower regions of the game, especially the area called The Marrow.

How to Unlock

It First, you must pass through The Marrow and descend into Deep Docks. Then, explore the northern section of this zone. There, you’ll find an altar you need to interact with. After doing so, Hornet will acquire Swift Step.

How to Use

It On a controller, the ability is usually bound to the right trigger (R2/RT/ZR), and on keyboard it’s mapped to the C key. A short tap performs a dash, while holding it enables sprint. This technique works best when combined with jumps and attacks, allowing you to dodge quickly or cover large distances.
