During the Christmas event 99 Nights in the Forest, elves arrived to help build Santa's workshop, but their mission was interrupted by a Reindeer attack, scattering them throughout the forest. Rescuing the elves is now one of your tasks. If you're having trouble finding elves in 99 Nights in the Forest, this guide will help you.
How the Elf Rescue Event Works in 99 Nights in the Forest
The first thing you need to understand is that elves can appear in various locations scattered throughout the forest, and each requires a specific tool for rescue. Therefore, providing exact locations for finding the distressed elves is not possible—you'll need to search the forest on your own.
In return for rescuing them, elves will give you a gift containing a random item, making this task quite rewarding for your survival, as the rewards are quite pleasant.

How to Obtain Equipment for Rescuing Elves in 99 Nights in the Forest
Before rescuing elves, visit the giant Christmas Sack located near the missing children's board. It's available from the first day of the event and acts as a store for rescue tools.
All equipment is purchased with Mossy Coins. These can be obtained from treasure chests and by defeating cultists. This currency is also used by other vendors, so it's wise to spend it wisely at the start of the event.
Item | Cost | Main Purpose |
Ladder | 15 Mossy Coins | Rescuing elves in trees |
Shovel | 20 Mossy Coins | Digging elves out from under the snow |
Ice Skates | 20 Mossy Coins | Rescuing elves on ice rinks |
Sled | 25 Mossy Coins | Transporting elves in snow and faster movement |
You can purchase multiple items at once, and it's advisable to do so if you plan to rescue several elves in one trip.

Where to Find Elves in 99 Nights in the Forest
As mentioned, elves can appear almost anywhere, and the map does not show their locations. They are often found near campfires, ice rinks, in snowy areas, and among trees. Therefore, when exploring the forest, carefully inspect the surroundings to avoid missing any elves.
Pay attention to the hands and feet of elves sticking out of the snow if they are buried. You can also zoom out the camera to inspect trees for other elves stuck on branches.
How to Rescue Elves in 99 Nights in the Forest
Depending on the predicament the elf is in, the tool needed for their rescue will vary. When you approach an elf with the correct item in hand, an interaction prompt will appear. If it doesn't, it means a different tool is needed.

To complete any rescue, you need to hold down the interaction key (usually the E key) until the action is fully performed.
Useful Tips for Rescuing Elves
- Rescuing elves is much easier as a team: dividing into search groups allows you to cover more ground and share equipment.
- Having several rescue tools on hand means you won't have to return to the Christmas Sack to purchase the necessary item. This saves time and allows you to spend it on more useful activities.
- It's best to carry out rescues during the day, as the number of enemies increases at night, which can interrupt the process and jeopardize your task.

Rewards for Rescuing Elves in 99 Nights in the Forest
After a successful rescue, a large gift box will appear next to the elf. Opening it will grant you random useful items, making elf rescue one of the most effective ways to level up and survive during the 99 Nights in the Forest event.
Possible rewards include weapons, food, crafting materials, and festive currency. Additionally, if you're lucky, you might receive Ice Axes, Tridents, Cooked Morsels, Candy Canes, Armor Trim Kits, and Cultist Gems.

If you want to receive more Candy Canes, take the Santa’s Helper class in the Christmas shop before rescuing elves. It increases the amount of festive currency for each rescued elf.
