Thanks to the Shiny Smeargle's return during the Festival of Colors event in the game Pokemon Go, people can once again capture this elusive character. If you are looking to capture one, seasoned veteran or a beginner, let me quickly guide through the process of getting the Shiny Smeargle.
What is the Smeargle Shiny Version?
Unlike any other Pokemon such as Smeargle, Shiny Smeargle is a Normal-type Pokemon which is considered to be both elusive and hard to find. Apart from other Pokemon, Smeargle's capture is unique as one has to take special snapshots which is the only way to encounter the Pokemon in the wild unlike traditional wild encouter techniques.
How to Encouter Shiny Smeargle
In Pokemon Go, players have to activate the snapshot function to be able to actually catch Smeargle. During the Festival of Colors event, players have an increased chance of 5 tries per day to utilize the snapshots which has dramatically increased unlike the typical once per day restriction.
Here's how to trigger a Smeargle encounter:
- Choose the Camera item from your in-game inventory
- Choose any Pokémon from your Pokédex that you want to capture
- Take a shot, then close the Camera
- Look at your Photos to see whether or not Smeargle has snuck in the background of your picture
- Once you see Smeargle in the photo, close out of the Photo option. Smeargle is now fileted as a wild Pokemon around you.
- Click on Smeargle to start the catch-diving game.
Important Tips
- Event Timing: Make sure you start taking snapshots only after the event begins, usually at 10:00 AM (Local Time). Otherwise, the Shiny encounter boost won't be active.
- Move Snapshot: Smeargle will copy the moves of the Pokémon you photograph. Choose wisely if you want a Shiny Smeargle with specific moves.
