As a player progresses in Dune: Awakening, the demands on their base also increase. There's a growing need for more fabricators, smelters, storage units, and parking spaces for vehicles. To accommodate all these elements, the base must be expanded.
Initially, the size of the base is limited by the capabilities of the Sub-Fief Console or its upgraded version the Advanced Sub-Fief Console. These devices define the initial zone where construction is permitted.
To build beyond this zone, players must create Staking Units special expansion modules.
To begin crafting Staking Units, you first need to research the Staking Unit Set technology. This requires 10 Intel Points. Once researched, you gain the ability to create expansion modules at the base using a Survival Fabricator.
This device also needs to be researched and built. To construct it, you’ll need:
Steel Ingots are a key component for creating Staking Units. Each Steel Ingot requires 4 units of Carbon Ore.
Regardless of the type (Horizontal or Vertical), each Staking Unit follows the same crafting formula:
This makes them quite expensive, so even crafting one unit requires preparation and resource gathering.
Once crafted, the module must be equipped.
You can use up to 8 Staking Units per base, regardless of their type combination. This means you need to choose wisely where to add space and where to build upward.
Base expansion is a key stage in progressing through Dune: Awakening. It unlocks new opportunities for development, production, storage, and defense. However, this process is not cheap.
