In TES 4 Oblivion Remastered, not only might you need armor, but your horse could use some too. It will not only change its aesthetic appearance but also protect it in case of attacks from other riders or even foot enemies.
How to Put Armor on Your Horse in Oblivion Remastered
After completing the prologue and entering the open world, you can find your first armored horse at the Chestnut Handy stables.

In this location, you can talk to Snak gra-Bura if you want to purchase other equipment for your horse. This NPC is located in the aforementioned area, west of the Imperial City.
