Not just another creepy basement, this place holds the key to powering rooms throughout the estate via an intricate network of steam-powered ducts. But bringing this steamwork beast online is no small feat.

What Is the Boiler Room, and Why Should You Care?

The Boiler Room is one of several Mechanical Rooms scattered across the estate. Its primary purpose? Providing steam power to other rooms, especially those that require activation, like the Laboratory. Steam travels through ceiling-mounted power ducts, but these only work if:

• The Boiler Room is active
• The targeted room is either adjacent to the Boiler Room or connected via other rooms with visible power ducts

And here's the catch: the Boiler Room only powers one of three floorplan doorways at a time (left, center, or right). Thankfully, there's a handy switch beneath the main console that lets you redirect power output as needed.

Step-By-Step: How to Power the Boiler Room

Step 1: Turn on the First Boiler

As you descend the stairs into the Boiler Room, you'll spot the first boiler at the bottom. Power it up to begin the puzzle.

Step 2: Redirect Steam to the Central Mechanism

• Rotate the red pipe once to send steam toward the center of the room, specifically the six-pipe interchange.
• Now, twist the Y-shaped pipe until the first boiler’s steam is directed toward the back left pipe (facing away from it). This powers up a moving track.

Step 3: Time It Right to Unblock the Second Boiler

Watch the track. Once there's a gap in the metal sheets, rotate the Y-shaped pipe again to cut off power. If timed correctly, this will unblock access to the second boiler.

Step 4: Power the Second Boiler

Head over and switch on the second boiler, which starts sending steam into a nearby pipe around the corner.

Step 5: Use the Blue Redirector

Find the small blue lever attached to the pipe from the second boiler. Flip it right to redirect steam.

Step 6: Re-align the Red Pipe

Rotate the red pipe again so it lines up with the second boiler’s output. This should now power the elevator.

Step 7: Ride the Elevator

Go up using the elevator and pull the lever on the other side. This will unlock the gate on the metal walkway above.

Step 8: Activate the Third Boiler

Cross the walkway and fire up the third boiler. Steam will flow through the pipes and due to your current setup, it also unlocks the previously sealed door on the lower level.

Step 9: Redirect Power Back to the First Boiler

• Rotate the red pipe vertically again to channel the first boiler’s steam.
• Spin the Y-shaped pipe three times, extending a bridge and routing the power to the upper mechanism.

Step 10: Sync All Boilers to the Top Mechanism

• Go back to the second boiler and turn the blue switch upward.
• Return to the third boiler and flip the nearby blue knob to the left.

At this point, all three boilers should now be funneling their power to the central computer at the top.

Final Step: Activate the Boiler Room

Once the three boilers are online and connected:

• Look for three glowing circles on the screen (one per boiler).
• Press the "Activate" button to bring the Boiler Room to life!
