FromSoftware has reimagined its dark fantasy formula with Elden Ring: Nightreign, a roguelite spin-off that trades open-world sprawl for condensed, brutal runs against the Night's Tide. But don’t let the shift to a more streamlined structure fool you, there's still a staggering amount of depth packed into this grim adventure. So, how long does Nightreign actually take to beat? Whether you're here for the critical path, a standard playthrough, or 100% completion, we’ve broken down the game’s length below.
Unlike the original Elden Ring, Nightreign follows a roguelike format built around Expeditions, self-contained runs culminating in intense boss fights with powerful Nightlords. There are eight unique Expeditions, but you only need to defeat four Nightlords to unlock the final boss and complete the main storyline.
Each Expedition takes around 40–60 minutes, depending on your pace and survivability. With roguelike unpredictability and skill-based progression, it’s unlikely you’ll win every run on your first try.
If you're not rushing toward the final boss and want to experience more of the world — including alternate Expeditions, character-specific lore, and extra encounters — expect a more robust runtime.
Many players will revisit earlier Nightlords to level up, farm gear, or unlock Remembrances, mini-storylines tied to each of the eight playable Nightfarers.
Completionists, buckle up. Nightreign is full of layered objectives and progression systems that go well beyond beating the final boss. Here’s what you’ll need for full completion:
RNG can either help or hinder you here. You’ll likely redo Expeditions multiple times to fulfill story or unlock requirements, and tougher Nightlords may take several attempts.
A single successful Expedition, surviving two in-game days and defeating a Nightlord takes:
You can fast-track to a boss once the Erdtree symbol appears on the map, but it’s often smarter to take extra time farming Runes, weapons, and upgrades before the final confrontation.
Elden Ring: Nightreign is a leaner but no less punishing evolution of FromSoftware’s formula. Its roguelike format means your experience will vary wildly depending on your skill, luck, and persistence. But whether you're here for a few epic boss fights or to uncover every memory fragment and ending.
