Control Resonant: Power Lines Walkthrough

The Power Lines mission takes Dylan into the subway beneath Central to restore electricity to several stations. The first three locations use similar Calibration Unit puzzles, while the final station introduces a more complicated setup involving Power Cores, electricity, and mold. This control resonant power lines walkthrough explains how to complete every station and finish the mission.

How to Start Power Lines

The mission becomes available after completing Arish's Briefing and speaking with Arish at the FBC Field Office in Central. Power Lines is part of the Contain the Crisis main questline, and completing it rewards you with 1 Living Shard. The mission sends you underground because the CFD requires a large amount of power, while the maintenance team that was supposed to reroute it has disappeared.

Once the quest starts, three subway stations become available: Perimeter Station, East Park Station, and Factory Station. They can be completed in any order, so you do not have to follow a specific route through them. The fourth location, Vanished Station, becomes available only after the first three have been rerouted.

General Principle of Power Lines

The control resonant calibration units are the main objects used to solve the station puzzles, and each location has a different requirement for where they must be placed. Once the required units are correctly positioned, activate the Tuning Device to reroute the station's power.

The exact arrangement changes between locations. Perimeter Station uses the distance of the units from the Tuning Device, Factory Station requires them to form a straight line, while East Park Station uses the Tuning Device's teleport function to reach a locked room. Because of these differences, simply putting the units into any available position will not always work.

Perimeter, East Park, and Factory can be completed in whatever order you prefer. After all three are restored, the subway route changes and leads you toward the final part of the mission.

Perimeter Station

Perimeter Station is located southeast of the Field Office. After dealing with the enemies outside, head down into the station and continue to the subway platform. The notes near the Tuning Device explain that three units are required, with one placed in the closest position to the device and two in the positions farthest from it.

The first Calibration Unit can be found by taking the stairs to the north. Pick it up and place it in the nearby marked position. For the second, drop onto the tracks and head south into the mold-covered section. Collect the unit there and bring it back to the square near the Tuning Device.

The final unit is behind a door that requires electricity. Look toward the northern side of the tracks to find an uncharged Power Core. Go up the southern stairs, strike the charged Power Core, and quickly carry the electricity to the uncharged one. This opens the door containing the third Calibration Unit.

Take the unit out and position it in the farthest marked location. You may need to transfer the charge between the Power Cores again to move through the area. Once all three units are arranged correctly, activate the Tuning Device to complete Perimeter Station.

East Park Station

East Park Station is in the southern part of Central, west of the gas station. Defeat the enemies outside and enter the subway. Shortly after entering, you will reach an intersection with one Calibration Unit behind a gate on the left and another that can be picked up freely on the right.

Take the accessible unit downstairs and clear away the mold so you can examine the notes. One note repeats the general calibration rules, while another explains the special mechanic used at this station.

Place the available units into the marked squares on the platform. Their initial positions are not important because the key to this puzzle is the Tuning Device itself. Activate it repeatedly until the third activation teleports you into the room containing the locked Calibration Unit.

Inside the room, look for the electrical box with the red light and hit it to open the gate. Take the Calibration Unit outside and place it in the remaining yellow square. Activate the Tuning Device again to finish the station.

After completing East Park, Dr. Florez will respond through the intercom. Speak with her and Clarke before continuing toward the next station.

Factory Station

Factory Station is located northwest of the Patterned Factory. Defeat the enemies outside before entering. The first Calibration Unit is inside one of the stores near the entrance. Pick it up and place it in the yellow square at the bottom of the stairs.

Read the note near the Tuning Device to learn the main rule for this station: all three Calibration Units and the Tuning Device must form a straight line.

The second unit is on top of the subway car to the west. The third is behind the southern stairs. Collect both and place them in the marked squares between the first unit and the Tuning Device. When viewed from the correct angle, the three units should form a straight line leading toward the device.

Activate the Tuning Device once the arrangement is complete. This finishes the third station and moves the quest into its final section.

Vanished Station

After the first three stations have been restored, the route out of the subway changes. The normal exit becomes blocked, and you must follow the tracks deeper underground. Defeat the Mold enemies along the way and continue until you reach Vanished Station.

The control resonant vanished station puzzle is different from the previous three. Instead of one Tuning Device and three units, Vanished Station contains two platforms, A and B, with each platform requiring two Calibration Units. There are four units available in total, and Platform A must be calibrated before Platform B.

The four Calibration Units are spread around the station. Two are located in the room with the survivors, another is behind the powered door opposite that room, and the final one is upstairs from Platform A. Bring the units to the platforms as you progress rather than trying to solve everything immediately.

Platform A

Start by using the Tuning Device on Platform A. This sends you to Platform B, where you can begin manipulating the electricity needed for the rest of the puzzle.

From Platform B, head upstairs and transfer the charge between the Power Cores to open the required rooms. One room contains a Calibration Unit and a health upgrade. Another route leads toward the survivors and Dr. Florez.

There is an important interaction between electricity, lights, and mold here. When the lights are powered, mold grows faster. This can be useful for restoring broken electrical connections, but it can also cover the yellow positions where Calibration Units need to be placed.

To access the survivors' room, move the power away from the light source first so the mold does not immediately regrow. Destroy the mold blocking the entrance, then enter the room and collect the two Calibration Units found there. The other units can be collected from the nearby powered room and the area above Platform A.

Once the necessary power has been moved away, clear the mold covering the required yellow position on Platform A. Place two Calibration Units on the marked squares and activate the Tuning Device to complete Platform A.

Platform B

Platform B is the trickier half of Vanished Station because the mold itself becomes part of the electrical circuit. First, restore power to the appropriate Power Core on the platform. Once the lights turn on, mold will grow in several locations, including over the broken cables.

Do not destroy the mold connecting the broken cables. Those growths conduct electricity across the damaged section and are necessary for powering the Tuning Device. The mold covering the yellow placement positions is different: that growth needs to be removed before you can place the Calibration Units.

After the required mold has grown, remove the power from the Platform B generators and transfer the charges upstairs. This turns off the lights and prevents additional mold from interfering with the puzzle. Then destroy the mold covering the two side placement areas while leaving the growths connecting the broken cables untouched.

Bring the final two Calibration Units down to Platform B and place them on the exposed yellow squares. With the cable-connecting mold still intact, activate the Tuning Device to calibrate Platform B.

Defeat the enemies that appear after the calibration is complete. Once the area is secure, the main puzzle section of control resonant power lines is finished.

Dr. Florez and the Field Office Station

After completing both platforms at Vanished Station, speak with Dr. Florez. This conversation completes the Power Lines mission and confirms that the subway power has been successfully rerouted.

Once the conversation is finished, leave the subway through Field Office Station. This brings the mission to an end and allows you to continue with the next part of the Contain the Crisis storyline.

Preparation

Before starting the mission, consider unlocking Extended Rush from the skill tree. One walkthrough recommends it because the extra sprinting ability can make sections involving Power Cores and Calibration Units easier, particularly when you need to carry a charge quickly between generators. It is not required to complete the mission.
