Broodfeast Quest In Silksong (How To Get Seared, Shredded, and Skewered Organs)

The Broodfeast quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the Hunt tasks given by Huntress in the Putrified Ducts. It’s a grisly assignment where Hornet must kill enemies with specific tools to harvest three different organ types: Seared, Shredded, and Skewered.

At first glance, the requirement to farm more than 60 kills may look overwhelming. But with the right weapons, shortcuts, and farming spots, you can finish Broodfeast in less time than you’d expect. Here’s a full breakdown of how to unlock the quest, find the tools, and efficiently collect each organ type.

How to Start the Broodfeast Quest

You can unlock Broodfeast by traveling to the southern reaches of the Putrified Ducts. Deep in the southwest corner, you’ll encounter Huntress, who assigns you the task of gathering organs.

  • First visit: You’ll need to navigate through traps and a gauntlet of enemies before reaching her.
  • Afterward: A shortcut near the Putrified Ducts Bench makes repeat visits much faster.

Be careful while exploring this area, Putrified Ducts is packed with vine traps and aggressive enemy spawns that can overwhelm unprepared players.

Quest Requirements

To complete Broodfeast, Hornet must harvest three different organ types using specific tools. Each kill only counts if the correct weapon lands the final blow:

  • 15 Seared Organs – obtained using the Flintslate
  • 35 Shredded Organs – obtained using the Cogwork Wheel
  • 10 Skewered Organs – obtained using the Sting Shard

That’s 60 kills in total, but you don’t need to roam randomly. Farming near benches will let you reset enemies quickly and keep progress steady.

How to Get Seared Organs

Seared organs are collected by using the Flintslate, a tool that infuses Hornet’s needle with flame and adds burning damage to her attacks. To earn credit for the quest, the final hit on an enemy must come from the flaming needle, which will then cause a seared organ to drop. You’ll need a total of 15 of these organs to complete this part of Broodfeast. The Flintslate itself can be found in the Deep Docks, but only after unlocking the southern gate with a Simple Key. Once you have it, farming is fairly straightforward—focus on weaker enemies near benches so you can reset their spawns quickly, and repeat the cycle until you have all 15 organs.

How to Get Shredded Organs

To collect shredded organs, you’ll need to equip the Cogwork Wheel, a spinning blade that grinds through enemies in front of Hornet. The important thing to remember here is that the Cogwork Wheel must deal the finishing blow in order for a shredded organ to drop. You’ll need to collect a total of 35 organs this way, which makes this step the longest part of the Broodfeast quest.

The Cogwork Wheel itself can be purchased from the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks, so make sure you’ve unlocked that area before trying to tackle this objective. Once you have it, farming isn’t too bad, line enemies up in narrow spaces where the Wheel can cut through multiple targets, and use benches to reset them quickly. Over time, this becomes a steady, if repetitive, grind.

How to Get Skewered Organs

Skewered organs are tied to the Sting Shard, a trap-like tool that Hornet throws forward. Once placed, the Sting Shard damages enemies on contact, then shatters into multiple flying blades that scatter around the area. For the kill to count toward the quest, one of those shards must land the final strike, so placement and timing are key. You’ll need 10 skewered organs in total, which is far fewer than the shredded ones, making this step much quicker.

The Sting Shard can be obtained earlier than the Cogwork Wheel, usually in the midgame, and works best in enclosed spaces where enemies have little room to avoid the shards. To farm efficiently, try luring enemies into tight corridors or corners, then set the Sting Shard in their path so the scattering blades have a higher chance of finishing them off. With a bit of setup, this objective can be cleared in no time.

Efficient Farming Strategy

Instead of wandering around the map, the fastest way to finish Broodfeast is to:

  1. Locate a bench with nearby enemies (Putrified Ducts has several good farming loops).
  2. Equip the required tool.
  3. Kill enemies until they drop the organ.
  4. Rest at the bench to respawn them.
  5. Repeat until you meet the quota for each organ type.

This cycle dramatically cuts down farming time, letting you wrap up the quest in one focused session.

Broodfeast Rewards

Completing the Broodfeast not only satisfies Huntress’s request but also progresses her storyline in Silksong. While the rewards lean more toward lore and character progression than raw upgrades, it’s an essential quest for players aiming to fully explore Hornet’s journey.

The Broodfeast quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong is less about raw difficulty and more about patience and methodical farming. By unlocking the right tools: Flintslate, Cogwork Wheel, and Sting Shard and using smart farming loops, you can harvest the required organs far quicker than it first seems.
