The Anime Zero Skill Tree lets you boost your weapon's stats without relying on lucky rolls. By spending Skill Tokens, you can increase attack damage, crit chance, defense, and movement speed. However, each weapon has its own Skill Tree, so picking the right upgrades early can save you a ton of grinding.
Here's Anime Zero skill tree guide that explains everything you need to know about upgrades, token costs, and the best branch order to maximize your damage and avoid wasting resources.
How the Skill Tree Works in Anime Zero
The Skill Tree unlocks at Level 1, so there's no need to complete quests or find a special NPC. You can access it directly from the left-side menu in the lobby.
Here's how to upgrade your weapon:
- Open the Skill Tree (Skills) menu.
- Select one of four branches: Attack, Critical, Defense, or Speed.
- Pick the next available node and check its Skill Token cost.
- Click Buy to unlock the upgrade.
Each branch contains five nodes: a free starting node with no bonus and four upgrades that provide increasingly stronger stat boosts.
Keep in mind that every weapon has its own Skill Tree. Upgrading one won't improve the others, so focus on your main weapon instead of spreading tokens across your entire inventory.

All Anime Zero Skill Tree Upgrades and Bonuses
The Anime Zero Skill Tree has four branches, each improving a different part of your combat performance. Attack boosts raw damage, Critical increases your crit chance, Defense reduces incoming damage, and Speed improves movement.
Here's the full breakdown of Skill Tree nodes, bonuses, and token costs:
Node Cost | Attack (ATK) | Critical (CRIT) | Defense (DEF) | Speed (SPD) |
Free | No bonus | No bonus | No bonus | No bonus |
1 Token | +15% damage | +3% crit chance | 5% damage reduction | +5% movement speed |
5 Tokens | +25% damage | +6% crit chance | 10% damage reduction | +10% movement speed |
9 Tokens | +40% damage | +10% crit chance | 15% damage reduction | +15% movement speed |
11 Tokens | +60% damage | +15% crit chance | 25% damage reduction | +25% movement speed |
Attack is the strongest starting option for faster dungeon clears and boss fights, while Critical becomes more valuable as your weapon's damage increases. Defense and Speed are worth investing in when you're struggling to survive or dodge enemy attacks.

How Many Skill Tokens Do You Need to Max a Branch?
Each Skill Tree node has its own purchase cost. The prices shown aren't cumulative, meaning you'll need to buy all previous upgrades before unlocking the final node.
Here's how much each upgrade actually costs:
Upgrade | Node Cost | Total Tokens Spent |
First node | 1 | 1 |
Second node | 5 | 6 |
Third node | 9 | 15 |
Fourth node | 11 | 26 |
Maxing one branch costs 26 Skill Tokens, while fully upgrading all four branches on a single weapon requires 104 tokens.
Stat bonuses work differently from token costs. The percentage displayed on each node represents your total bonus at that level, not an additional boost that stacks with previous upgrades.
For example, maxing Attack gives you +60% damage, not 15% + 25% + 40% + 60%. That's an important difference when planning your build, especially if you're saving tokens for a specific upgrade.

Best Anime Zero Skill Tree Branch Order
For most players, the best Anime Zero skill tree order is Attack → Critical → Defense → Speed. This setup prioritizes raw damage and faster farming before spending resources on survivability and mobility.
1. Attack — Your First Priority
Attack is easily the best starting investment. Just one Skill Token gives you +15% damage, making your first upgrade incredibly cost-effective. Keep upgrading this branch toward its final +60% damage bonus. You'll clear dungeon mobs faster, deal more damage to bosses, and generally speed up your progression.

2. Critical — More Damage Potential
Once Attack is maxed, Critical is your next target. Its final upgrade provides +15% crit chance, which works especially well with crit-focused traits, weapons, and accessories. The stronger your base damage gets, the more useful those extra critical hits become.
3. Defense — Stay Alive Longer
Defense should come next, particularly if bosses keep taking you down before you can finish your combos. Even the first node gives you 5% damage reduction for just one token. That's a solid deal if you're getting hit frequently.
4. Speed — Better Mobility and Dodging
Speed is more situational, but it can make combat feel much smoother. Extra movement speed helps you dodge attacks, reposition during boss fights, and move between enemy groups. You don't have to follow this order perfectly, though. If you're constantly dying, grabbing an early Defense upgrade is smarter than saving everything for Critical.
For a full damage-focused build, maxing both Attack and Critical costs 52 Skill Tokens on the same weapon.

How to Get Skill Tokens in Anime Zero
Anime Zero skill tokens are mainly tied to character and weapon progression. The most practical way to farm them is to keep playing with the weapon you want to upgrade instead of constantly switching between different ones.
Here are the main ways to progress toward more Skill Tree upgrades:
- Leveling up: Earn experience through combat and dungeon clears to advance your progression.
- Using weapons: Keep running content with your main weapon to develop its progression and work toward more Skill Tokens.
- Redeeming codes: Some Anime Zero codes may reward free Skill Tokens, depending on the available rewards.
There's no consistently confirmed Skill Token payout per level or dungeon run, so don't count on earning a fixed amount every time.
For efficient farming, stick to dungeons you can clear quickly and consistently. Repeating manageable runs is usually better than wasting time on difficult bosses that keep wiping you out.
Best Weapons to Upgrade in Anime Zero
Since Skill Tree upgrades only apply to individual weapons, choosing where to spend your tokens is just as important as choosing which branch to level first. You don't want to dump 26 tokens into a weapon you'll replace after a few runs.
Shadow Monarch offers powerful basic attacks and useful summons, while Cataclysm combines AoE damage with defensive benefits during certain abilities. Void Arbiter is another high-tier option introduced in a newer update. However, you don't need an endgame weapon to start upgrading your Skill Tree.
During early and mid-game progression, a solid Legendary weapon can carry you through plenty of content. Grab the first Attack upgrade for just one token, see how the weapon performs, and invest more once you're sure you'll keep using it.
The best weapon to upgrade isn't always the rarest one you own. What matters most is how quickly it clears your current content, how comfortable its moveset feels, and how well it works with your traits and accessories.
