In Grounded 2, a new mechanic has been introduced — rideable insects, or buggies. They significantly improve player mobility, help travel faster across the world, transport resources, and even fight enemies. Currently, there are two main buggies available in the game, but the developers plan to add more.
Red Soldier Ant Buggy
This buggy is unlocked after completing the story mission “Egg Hunt.” To obtain it, you need to find a red soldier ant egg in the anthill and incubate it. To craft the saddle, you need materials such as larva hide, twigs, and acorn shells.
The advantages of this buggy are fast movement, high jumps, and extra inventory space, allowing you to carry building materials. However, this buggy has no combat abilities, so it’s better suited for quick travel and resource gathering.

Orb Weaver Spider Buggy
The second buggy is the Orb Weaver spider. You can get it after completing the mission “Networking.” To unlock the recipe, you need to insert an optical disc into the BURG.L station. The spider egg is located near this station.
This buggy has combat abilities: it can shoot webs to attack enemies and emit a sound that scares off other insects. Additionally, it can move across web bridges without the risk of getting tangled.

How to Obtain a Buggy
To use a buggy, first finish the story missions that unlock it. Then, buy the buggy recipe in the Ominent Science shop for 500 science points. Next, build an incubator and find an insect egg. Put the egg in the incubator and wait 12 to 24 in-game hours for it to hatch. After that, you can call and use your buggy.
If the buggy dies, it drops out and requires revival. If you don’t revive it in time, the buggy will return to the anthill and won’t be available for a while. Also, buggies cannot move in certain areas, such as cold locations.
The developers promise to add new buggies in the future, such as ladybugs and water buggies, making the game even more exciting.
