Aion 2 Soul Binding Guide: Bind, Sync, and Reset

Soul Binding is an equipment enhancement feature in Aion 2 that can increase the inherent stats of various equipment․ There are three Soul Binding features‚ Bind‚ which increases current stats; Sync‚ which allows you to swap out one stat; and Reset‚ which allows you to reroll inherent stats․ Familiarity with the Soul Binding feature in Aion 2 can help players avoid losing items and other resources‚ such as Soul Codex and Kinah‚ needed to Soul Bind items․

The main strategy is to invest resources to improve stats․ You have a chance to further improve item stats via Soul Fusion if the item's Soul Binding Rate is 100%․ These additional stats are not passed on if the item is traded or replaced․

What Soul Binding Does

Soul Binding adds a separate set of stats to your equipment. These bonuses can improve offensive attributes, survivability, movement speed, combat speed, or specific skills, depending on the item and its available stat pool.

The number of additional Soul Binding stats depends on the equipment's grade. Common equipment generally has one stat line, Rare has two, and Epic has three. In some game versions, Unique equipment can have three to five lines, while Heroic equipment can have four to six. The exact number depends on the item and game version.

Each stat has a current value and a maximum value. Bind gradually increases the current value toward its limit, while Soul Binding Rate tracks your overall progress. The stats themselves are randomly assigned, so getting a useful combination is just as important as improving their values.

Soul Binding also affects trading. Once equipment is bound to your character, it generally cannot be freely traded to other players. Before investing resources, make sure you intend to keep using the item.

Where to Find Soul Binding in the Game

If you want to learn how to soul bind equipment in Aion 2, start by opening the Enhancement menu and selecting the Soul Binding tab.

  • Open the main menu and select Enhancement․
  • Switch to the Soul Binding tab․
  • Choose the weapon‚ armor‚ or accessory you wish to upgrade․
  • Check additional information about the item‚ soul binding information‚ and required materials․
  • Choose Bind‚ Sync‚ or Reset to make any needed changes․

It is generally advised not to invest resources in Soul Binding before level 45․ At level 45‚ players can make more informed choices about which items to keep and save resources for other purposes instead of Soul Binding other items․ Level 45 is a suggested leveling goal‚ not the level at which players can use Soul Binding from the in-game menu․

Bind: Raising Stat Values

Bind improves the values of your existing Soul Binding stats. It does not replace them with different properties. You need Soul Codex and Kinah to perform these upgrades.

Each successful Bind attempt increases the stats by a random amount. The upgrade itself is guaranteed, but the amount of progress varies. The costs in materials and Kinah also increase as you continue improving the item.

Soul Binding Rate rises as individual stats approach their maximum values. When all the required stat lines reach their limits, the equipment reaches 100% Soul Binding Rate.

Before using Bind, check every stat on the item. If some properties are undesirable, improving them can waste resources that would be better spent on a stronger combination.

Important: Reaching 100% does not automatically mean you have exhausted all progression options. Eligible equipment can receive an additional effect through Soul Fuse, which requires Philosopher's Stones and Kinah. However, this extra effect has separate transfer rules, so make sure the item is worth the investment.

Sync: Rerolling One Stat

Sync is a targeted way to replace one unwanted Soul Binding stat. It allows you to keep the other properties on your equipment instead of rerolling the entire set.

Depending on the equipment and available materials, Sync requires a suitable equipment piece to use as material or a Sync Stone of the appropriate grade. Sync Stones can also be crafted from Sync Stone Fragments through Substance Morph.

The material grade matters. Using a lower-grade Sync Stone on higher-grade equipment can significantly reduce the success chance. Check the displayed chance and material requirements before confirming the operation. Even if Sync succeeds, the replacement stat is random, so you are not guaranteed to receive the exact bonus you want.

To use Sync:

  1. Open Enhancement and select Soul Binding.
  2. Choose the equipment you want to modify.
  3. Select Sync and identify the stat line you want to replace.
  4. Add the required material and check the success chance.
  5. Confirm the operation and review the new stat.

Sync is usually the better option when an item already has several useful properties but one stat does not suit your build. This avoids rerolling the entire set, although repeated attempts can still consume considerable resources.

Reset: Rerolling Everything

Reset, also called Rebind in some interfaces and guides, replaces all existing Soul Binding stats with a new random combination. It is intended for equipment with several properties that do not suit your build.

The operation requires Soul Codex: Reset and Kinah. The exact cost depends on the item and current game version. For example, one documented Unique equipment configuration requires three Soul Codex: Reset items and 300,000 Kinah. Check the cost displayed in your Enhancement menu before confirming.

Reset does not guarantee better stats. The new combination may be just as unsuitable as the previous one or may even remove properties you wanted to keep. After a full reroll, Soul Binding Rate also returns to zero, so you will need to use Bind again to improve the new stats.

Use Reset when several stats need to change and the equipment is valuable enough to justify the expense. If only one property is undesirable, Sync is generally the more efficient option.

The Right Order: Fix Stats First, Then Bind

The most important rule for Aion 2 Soul Binding is to fix unwanted stats before spending large amounts of Soul Codex on Bind. First, use Sync to replace an individual undesirable stat or Reset if the entire combination needs to change. Once you have a set of properties that suits your class and build, use Bind to increase their values toward the maximum. This order helps you avoid spending resources on stats you will eventually replace.

What Happens at 100% and the Extra Slot

Reaching 100% Soul Binding Rate unlocks the next progression step for eligible equipment. Unique and Heroic items can receive an additional stat through Soul Fuse, which is also called Soul Bond in some materials.

This process requires two Philosopher's Stones of the appropriate type and 1,000,000 Kinah in the documented configuration. The additional effect is selected randomly from the properties available for that equipment. According to the documented mechanics, the operation is guaranteed for eligible Unique equipment, but you cannot manually choose the resulting stat. Quest-obtained Unique items may be excluded.

There are some inconsistencies between guides regarding how the extra slot should be described. Some refer to it as an additional stat line, while others also mention a Manastone slot. These are not necessarily the same mechanic. For practical purposes, treat Soul Fuse as an additional Soul Binding effect and check the item's tooltip before spending materials on other slot-related upgrades.

The additional Soul Fuse effect can also be modified through the available Soul Binding actions, but its binding percentage may change during Sync or Reset. This is another reason to review the confirmation window carefully before proceeding.

Where to Get Soul Codex and Reset Materials

Soul Codex is the primary material used to improve equipment through Bind. Understanding where to obtain Aion 2 Soul Codex is essential if you want to increase your Soul Binding Rate without wasting resources.

Reported sources include:

  • Expedition dungeons and other group PvE content.
  • Transcendence and certain open-world activities.
  • Shugo Festival rewards and merchants.
  • Nightmare Trade Shop and other available shops.
  • Attendance rewards, achievements, and progression reward tracks.

Some shops have purchase limits, so check their inventories regularly rather than relying exclusively on random dungeon drops.

Soul Codex: Reset

This material is used to reroll all Soul Binding stats. It can be obtained from the Nightmare Trade Shop, seasonal shops, quests, achievements, Hidden Cubes, Monoliths, and certain reward tracks.

Some shops have weekly purchase limits per character. Prices and limits can change, so check the current requirements in-game instead of relying on figures from another version.

Sync Stone and Sync Stone Fragments

Sync Stones are used to reroll a single stat. Sync Stone Fragments can be converted into Sync Stones through Substance Morph, while certain dungeons and activities provide fragments or other equipment that can be used as materials. Higher-difficulty Conquest content can offer additional opportunities to obtain these resources.

Philosopher's Stones

These materials are required to unlock the additional Soul Fuse effect. They are primarily associated with Conquest dungeon rewards and certain Substance Morph recipes. Check which type your equipment requires, as Philosopher's Stone: Revelation and Philosopher's Stone: Power are not always interchangeable.

What Carries Over When You Upgrade Equipment

You do not necessarily lose all your Soul Binding progress when replacing a piece of equipment. The equipment transfer system can preserve regular Soul Binding stat lines and their improved values when transferring progression to an eligible replacement item.

However, the additional stat unlocked through Soul Fuse does not transfer. If the new equipment supports this mechanic, you will need to unlock the extra effect again.

This distinction matters when deciding how much to invest in an item. Regular Soul Binding progression can remain useful after an equipment upgrade, while the additional Soul Fuse effect stays with the original item.

Before confirming a transfer, check the list of stats that will be preserved or excluded. Eligibility and transfer rules may vary, so do not assume that every bonus will carry over.

The Aion 2 Bind Sync Reset system becomes easier to manage when you separate stat selection from stat improvement. Sync changes one property, Reset rerolls the entire set, and Bind increases the values of the stats already on the item.

Focus on equipment you intend to keep using. Try Sync before spending resources on a full Reset, and save Soul Codex for items with stats that suit your build. Once the regular stats are optimized and reach 100%, consider Soul Fuse, but remember that its additional effect does not transfer with your progression to another item.
