A new Half-Life 2 RTX trailer has been released

The developers at Orbifold Studios have released a new trailer for their remaster of Half-Life 2 RTX: An RTX Remix Project, which has been published on the official NVIDIA GeForce channel.

The video showcases a comparison of how Half-Life 2 RTX looks now compared to the original, using the Nova Prospekt location.

The updated graphics, lighting, and models look very impressive while maintaining the overall aesthetics and atmosphere of the game. The developers have also managed to fix some visual shortcomings that were present before.

NVIDIA announced the release of the enhanced graphical version of Half-Life 2 last year at Gamescom 2023. The project is being developed by Orbifold Studios, and according to them, more than 100 people are working on the game.

The team is using Nvidia's RTX Remix tool, which helps them improve not only the lighting but also create high-quality 4K textures, rework or create new assets, models, and other elements, allowing the game to be fully updated for modern players.

Currently, Orbifold Studios has not announced a release date for Half-Life 2 RTX, but judging by the pace and results of their work, there has been significant progress. It is possible that the game could be released in November of this year, to coincide with the game's twentieth anniversary, or sometime next year.
