The main reason to fish from lava is the ability to catch prey and cook it while you're far from home, to survive and not die of hunger. Also, in lava, there are higher chances of obtaining various items that could be useful to you.

However, overall, this process doesn't offer anything unique, so you don't necessarily have to focus on fishing from lava sources unless absolutely necessary.

How to Fish from Lava in 99 Nights in the Forest

You can't just spontaneously go lava fishing; you need to prepare. First of all, ensure your base is well-protected, and you have supplies to venture into the lava biome and stay safe.

Additionally, you'll need a fishing rod, but a regular one won't do. It needs to be upgraded to a higher level — Good Rod or Strong Rod, to be able to fish from lava. You can upgrade the rod at the fishing hut.
