Nouns Esports Departs From Dota 2 After 3 Years

Nouns Esports has officially announced the disbandment of its Dota 2 roster, marking a heart-breaking moment for the team and its fans. After nearly three years of competition on the global radar, Nouns is stepping away from the Dota 2 scene entirely, leaving behind a legacy of North America's spirit.

Nouns had a remarkable journey during its time in competitive Dota 2. Emerging as a North American underdog, the team consistently battled to establish itself among the region's elite.

Their most notable achievement came when they bested the long-reigning stars of Shopify Rebellion, who fielded former members of the iconic Evil Geniuses, to win the TI 2023 NA Qualifier. From the shadows they managed to overcome the stars of the region, claiming the North American crown.

Nouns stood out as one of the premier teams in the Americas, but as of November 2024, they will cease operations in Dota 2. This decision marks the end of an era for North America, as another one bites the dust.

An Impressive Journey in Dota 2

Throughout their tenure, Nouns experienced a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Here are some of their best achievement throughout the 3 years of competition in the Dota 2 scene.

  • 7th - 8th at The International 2023: Nouns made a splash on the biggest stage, securing a top 8 finish and outperforming notable teams like Evil Geniuses, Tundra Esports, and 9Pandas.
  • 9th - 12th at The International 2024: Following their impressive run the previous year, Nouns continued to compete fiercely and cemented their name at the biggest event of the year.
  • 5th - 6th at PGL Wallachia S2: Their recent performance at this event shows their consistent prowess, though the team disbands shortly after.

Nouns' Plans for the Future

In their announcement, Nouns expressed that while they are leaving Dota 2 for now, this may not be a permanent farewell. The organization indicated they are open to re-entering the competitive Dota 2 scene if the right partnership arises.
