The former The International champion and co-owner of Alliance, streamer AdmiralBulldog, shared his thoughts on X regarding the controversial situation with Chimera Esports in the DreamLeague S25 and PGL Wallachia S3 qualifiers.
The issue stems from the fact that Chimera Esports, a team consisting of four players from the Eastern Europe region, initially competed in the MESWA qualifier. Despite winning in that region, due to the absence of a corresponding region in PGL, the team was moved to the Western Europe qualifier, though they should have been placed in Eastern Europe. A similar situation happened with NAVI Junior, who were supposed to compete in Western Europe but were instead moved to Eastern Europe.
AdmiralBulldog did not hide his outrage, calling the situation absurd:
First Chimera Esports steals spot from MESWA region in ESL Dreamhack qualifier, now they are playing WESTERN EUROPE qualifier in PGL. (they are 4 CIS players)
What a fucking joke. Who is making these rules?? @pglesports
Official PGL representatives have yet to comment on the incident.
Regional Qualifier Issues
This situation highlights the ongoing problems with regional qualifiers in Dota 2. Despite Valve and tournament organizers striving to ensure equal conditions for all regions, instances of such "team transfers" cast doubt on the effectiveness of the current system. Whether organizers will change the rules to prevent similar situations in the future remains to be seen.
Currently, Chimera Esports, having won the Middle East qualifier for DreamLeague S25, is now competing in the PGL Wallachia S3 qualifier in Western Europe, striving to continue their journey toward the tournament's main stage.
