The new Fortnite season brings with it more new and serious challenges, including the battle with the boss Kor. This is no ordinary NPC: she uses teleportation, invisibility, and can call for reinforcements.
Defeating Kor earns you the Shrouded Striker Medallion, which is the main reason to hunt her down. So, the fight with her can be a bit tricky if you're not prepared beforehand. But first, you need to know how to find and defeat Kor.
Kor appears at the Shogun’s Arena location (also known as Rift Island). This floating island initially doesn't appear on the map—it spawns randomly after the second storm circle opens. Once this happens, a Rift Island marker will appear on the map. That's where you need to head.
Remember, Shogun’s Arena (Rift Island) can appear anywhere on the map, not in a specific location. Below, you can see an example of what this sky island looks like on the map.
To reach the island, look for Rift portals beneath it—they will launch you right onto the surface. Jump platforms and other access points may also appear around the Rift location. Once on the island, move to its center. Kor usually patrols the area near the stone shrine at the top.
It's hard to call Kor a particularly difficult boss—she's unpredictable, which is her challenge. Before meeting her, it's worth preparing well and only fighting her with decent weapons, a supply of medkits, and shield potions. Land near the possible spawn point of Rift Island and start gathering loot until the storm phase activates.
Shotguns will be especially effective—for close-range combat in the island's buildings. A long-range rifle will also come in handy when Kor teleports and attacks from a distance. Superman Sprite or explosives can also be useful to put additional pressure on Kor and help disrupt her aim.
What You Need to Know About Kor's Attacks
Once the battle starts, Kor immediately jumps to a remote point. She targets you with a blue laser, then teleports and launches an attack. Standing still will result in serious damage. Sometimes she becomes briefly invisible, so you have to rely on sound and movement to track her. This can throw off your rhythm, especially during reloading or healing.
When her health drops to a critical level, chaos and additional difficulty ensue: Kor calls for reinforcements, and these minions try to overwhelm you with numbers. It's crucial to quickly deal with them while keeping Kor in sight.
Your main task is to constantly move and stay near cover. Use the environment—especially the columns and platforms near the shrine—to avoid direct contact when Kor targets you. Pop out, shoot, and immediately hide again.
Shoot for the head whenever possible. Kor has a lot of health, but she's not invincible. Well-aimed attacks, especially critical ones, can significantly shorten the duration of the fight. When she disappears—listen carefully for footsteps; be ready to react immediately when she reappears. It's advisable to use headphones.
If reinforcements appear—deal with them immediately. They're not very durable, but if ignored, they'll gradually drain your health while you fight Kor. Grenades, shotguns, or other area-effect weapons are particularly effective in these moments.
And don't forget about the minimap: other players often interfere in such battles to snatch the reward and eliminate you. If you hear distant gunfire—expect uninvited guests. Quickly finish off Kor, grab her rewards, and change positions before another group of players arrives.
After defeating the boss Kor, you will receive two extremely valuable items:
Damage | Fire Rate | Magazine Size | Reload Time |
58 | 2.25 | 10 | 1.56 s |
Mythic-level weapon with increased damage and improved critical potential compared to the standard version. With features like 58 base damage, a 2.25 fire rate, and fast reload time, it's perfect for mid- to long-range combat.
This item increases your movement speed and provides a unique ability: during a sprint jump, you become nearly invisible. This is a huge advantage for quick movement or escape. But there's a downside: while wearing the medallion, your location is visible to other players on the map. This makes the player a noticeable target for others, which is critical, especially in the late game phases when most players are closely monitoring the minimap.
Additionally, killing Kor is one of the new game quests, which will reward you with 15,000 XP once and boost your progress in the Battle Pass.
That's essentially everything you need to know about finding and battling the boss Kor in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3. Is it necessary to fight her? No, but it can definitely give you an advantage at a certain stage of the game, allowing you to secure high positions and last longer in the match.
