Enchanted By Nature: The Sims 4 New Expansion Pack Hints at Fairies, PlantSim Revamp and More Gnomes

Ever since fairies were first introduced as playable creatures in The Sims 3: Supernatural Expansion Pack, fans have been eagerly waiting for the mythical being’s return in The Sims 4. Cut to now, over a decade later, the upcoming EP might just grant players’ wishes.

EP Teaser

At the end of Thee Sims livestream with Megan Thee Stallion, Quen Blackwell and Ebonix, they played a short teaser announcing a new trailer on June 12th. The clip shows what appears to be a little house having a party, shaking to the beat of the music, twinkling a magical glow.

It was easy for long-time fans to instantly make the connection to fairies, as the house shown in the trailer shares a close resemblance to the old fairy house in the Supernatural pack.

Something Is Growing

Following the announcement, fans then discovered a website under the URL 'somethingisgrowing.com' with graphics and descriptions hinting at features of the new EP. It was then shortly confirmed by The Sims 4 official X account. The website was updated from time to time in the next few days, giving fans more and more information of this EP’s world.

Get lost in... Innisgreen
You peek through the leaves and see a quaint town. The sign reads Innisgreen, a beautifully lush world where Sims live in harmony with nature. You discover there are three neighborhoods to explore: a quiet waterfront town where they’re all about Gnomes, a grove where nature and civilization blend together, and an enchanting magical forest. What else awaits you here?

With every new pack, a new world is introduced. For Enchanted By Nature, that world is Innisgreen. Every world in the Sims takes inspiration from real-life locations and it reflects on their names- which led players to believe that Innisgreen is an Irish-inspired world.

Get lost in... Natural Living
You wake up under the stars and see other Sims meeting their needs outdoors without beds or plumbing. You’re hungry but you spot some delicious-looking mushrooms by a tree. Looks like you’ll sustain yourself just fine.

This whole passage hints at fully off-grid living in gameplay, where Sims can now sleep on the ground (no mods needed) and answer nature’s call in, well, nature. Furthermore, it sounds like an element of foraging might be included in this pack.

Get lost in... Three new traits
Three new traits will play a role in how Sims relate to their world – you befriend fellow Plant Lovers, have enlightening encounters with Mystical Sims, and even have run-ins with Disruptive Sims. Oh no, now everything’s out of balance…

These new traits are in line with the nature of mischievous fairies. The Plant Lover trait gives further hope to fans of PlantSim, believing that this nature-focused pack might revamp the occult, like how they did with ghosts for the Life and Death EP. This may very well be true, considering the tasks listed in the Sims Fandom Wiki for the upcoming Nature’s Calling event- which involves conversing about Plant Sims and purchasing a Magic PlantSim Stump.

Get lost in... Ailments
You’ve been feeling a little funny; an Ailment with strange effects has befallen you. You learn you have to work hard to put the Cure together, but it’s not all bad. It turns out honing the Apothecary skill is fun, and who knows, it might even lead you to a new career path.

The new Apothecary skill expands on illnesses and cures that are previously unexplored in the game. It might even involve foraging for ingredients and the Herbalism skill that came with Outdoor Retreat- although some fans have raised concerns of the skills being too similar, even with the potion-making skills that already exist in other packs.

Get lost in... Enchantment!
You’re awoken at dawn to the sound of high pitched laughter, somehow both sweet and sinister. All of a sudden, you’re met with a magical presence! You’re a little afraid at first, but you learn to embrace all the wonder and mischief these creatures’ abilities can bring- nurturing plants, influencing emotions, and a whole lot more you’re still yet to discover.
Eyes bleary with sleep, you look around at your strange and wonderful surroundings. Living at one with nature, with enchanting new friends, and even a new career… You have a feeling you’ll be right at home here.
And so your new life begins.

The creatures decribed aligns with the characteristics of fairies in the Sims universe- magical, natural born tricksters with a knack for gardening that can affect Sims’ mood and emotions.

Leaked New World Sneak Peek

From what’s confirmed so far, this new pack will have 3 new Sim traits, a Career path and a world called Innisgreen. This world can be seen in a leaked image, a sneak peek of the three different neighbourhoods mentioned in the site.

In the image shared, the fairies can be seen in one of the neighbourhoods. This is the only appearance we have of the occult so far. Their role in this pack is still up for speculation- with some players fearing a lackluster addition to gameplay, like mermaids from the Island Living pack.

The world’s similarity to the base game world, Willow Creek, have also elicited some disappointment among Simmers, as they had hoped for a much richer world than the one shown. It’s interesting to note that the fairies’ only appearance before in the Sims 4 was in Sylvan Glade, Willow Creek’s secret lot (in the form of tiny yellow lights). Willow Creek and the new fairy world might have a connection between them that gives reason to their similar appearances.

The sneak peek also shows a Sim sleeping on the ground, probably the feature of Natural Living. Another Sim can also be seen interacting with a peculiar looking tree, the one showcased in the latest teaser- indicating some level of importance to gameplay.

June-August Roadmap

The Sims official account shared their June-August roadmap, underlining two base game updates, an EP trailer and gameplay reveal leading up to its launch and the Nature’s Calling event.

Reward events are limited-time events that give players weekly tasks to complete and be rewarded in turn. Events usually run for about a month, with Nature’s Calling set to begin on June 24 at 9 a.m. PST and ending on August 5. The event’s tasks revolve around doing activities outdoors in nature and investigating ‘the whispers on the wind’.

New and Possible Features

Ahead of the EP’s launch, a relationship bar was added to gnomes in the game. This addition coupled with the gnomes’ presence in every official material lately might indicate a bigger role for the little creatures in this pack. Meanwhile, the base game update scheduled in the roadmap is stated to add more skin customization, which makes players hopeful for more skin colour options in the Create A Sim mode.

From the sneak peek of Innisgreen, you can see some possible new Build Mode features like new whimsical doors, windows, roofing details and spandrels. These features can also be seen in the images in the Something Is Growing site. You can also spot another exciting addition- flat roofs! This has the possibility of being a new roof option in one of the two upcoming base game updates.

However, with all the new and possible features of this EP, some Simmers might say it’s missing the most whimsical thing the game could have added in a fairy pack- a spiral staircase.
