Today we talk about Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz, the legendary AWPer from Astralis. Right now, there are strong rumors about big financial problems inside Astralis. Because of that, the organization might sell the whole lineup this summer, or at least start by selling some players. And dev1ce is one of the main names on that list.
Why? His salary is very high, he's already 29 years old, and if he still has ambitions like playing at a Major, this is a great chance for him to move on. He is not as dominant as he was 5 or 10 years ago, but he is still a reliable and smart AWPer who can help many teams.
FaZe already have experience with dev1ce. He played under Finn "karrigan" Andersen before, and could bring much-needed stability and experience. This move could help FaZe bounce back. If any team signs dev1ce before the Austin Major, FaZe is the top candidate.
Another interesting team is NAVI. They are a legendary organization, but their results in 2025 have been poor compared to 2024. One of the big problems is their AWPer, Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov. He misses too many shots, makes many mistakes, and doesn’t seem confident. The team plays a system-based style, but he is still underperforming.
Dev1ce plays a similar style, but he does it naturally. He could fix this problem for NAVI. However, NAVI usually don't usually sign players over 25 years old, and dev1ce is already 29. Also, their coach has already said they will not make roster changes before the Major. So even if dev1ce would be a good upgrade, it probably won’t happen.
There are not many other top teams who would sign dev1ce before the Major. Some smaller teams can't afford his high salary, and dev1ce likely wouldn’t want to join them anyway.
But after the Major? There might be more chances.
G2 has some internal problems. But dev1ce might not be interested. The G2 CEO recently said they don’t want older players in CS2, so dev1ce probably won’t fit their plans. Also it is hard to predict how the team is going to look in the future considering the loss of both stars and poor 2025 results.
In 2021, NIP signed dev1ce for a huge transfer fee from Astralis. It was one of the most expensive moves in CS:GO history. Dev1ce wanted to live in Stockholm with his girlfriend at the time and was even willing to learn Swedish to join the team.
NIP hoped he would become their superstar and help them win big trophies, but things went wrong quickly. The team struggled to build around him, and dev1ce had personal issues off the server that affected his form. Eventually, he stopped playing for several months and never returned to the NIP lineup.
In the end, both NIP and dev1ce lost out. NIP didn’t get the results they expected, and dev1ce lost valuable time in his career. That move is often seen as a warning for teams: even great players might not fit well if the project and environment aren’t right. This story reminds everyone that signing dev1ce just because he's available isn’t always the best idea. The fit needs to be right, and the team must be ready to support him.
The most realistic option before the Major is FaZe Clan. They are playing poorly, and broky's form is a big problem. dev1ce is still a good player who brings experience and calm under pressure. He knows how to win, and he could help FaZe get back on track.NAVI would be a great fit, but the age and timing make it very unlikely.
After the Major, if Astralis really breaks apart, we might see dev1ce join another top team. Or maybe a new organization will buy the Astralis roster and keep him. But one thing is clear: dev1ce still wants to compete at the top, and some team will give him that chance soon.
