All Gravesite Plain Dungeons Overview

All Gravesite Plain Dungeons Overview

Shadow of Erdtree became the first and a very large expansion for Elden Ring, adding a lot of new weapons, bosses, enemies, and specifically, dungeons filled with new challenges and rewards. In this review, we'll go over all the dungeons in the Gravesite Plain location and address the following points:

  • How to reach Belarut Gaol
  • How to reach Rivermouth Cave
  • How to reach Ruined Forge Lava Intake
  • How to reach Western Nameless Mausoleum

Belarut Gaol

Let's start with the Belarut Gaol dungeon. To get there, head northwest from the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace. Upon reaching the next Site of Grace at Greatbridge, North, proceed directly west across the lake.

Once you see numerous broken cages scattered nearby, you can be sure you've arrived at the cave entrance. Be careful, as the Ghostflame Dragon boss roams this area, guarding the Great Katana weapon.

Inside the dungeon, you'll mostly encounter fairly simple enemies, mainly undead, walking pots, and a few other types. The final boss of the dungeon is Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze, who is vulnerable to slashing attacks, fire effects, poison, and Scarlet Rot buildup. Defeating him will reward you with the Half-Human Spirit Ash Yosh and 80,000 runes.

Key items you can find in Belarut Gaol include the Greater Potentate's Cookbook (11), the Greatjar Helm, and the rewards for killing the dungeon boss.

Dragon's Pit

Although you can reach the Dragon's Pit location fairly quickly, it's better to leave this dungeon for a later stage in your playthrough, as it leads to the more challenging Jagged Peak region. Where you will need a higher level and better equipment to face the local dragons and dragonkin. You'll need to visit this region to complete the questlines of Igon and the Dragon Communion Priestess.

To reach the Dragon's Pit, head southeast from the Site of Grace near Castle Ensis in the Gravesite Plain. Follow the main road until you reach the Pillar Path Waypoint Site of Grace, where you can meet Igon if you haven't already.

Instead of continuing along the main road to the gravebirds, head west along the dirt road (you'll be able to see the forge ruins in the distance). Continue along this path to the end, and you'll reach the dungeon entrance, marked by a broken dragon statue and fire.

On this road, you will also encounter an invasion form of Ancient Dragon-Man, whom you must defeat, and then face again in his true form at the end of the dungeon. Defeating the Ancient Dragon-Man boss will reward you with 130,000 runes and the Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana.

As you progress through the dungeon, you'll find several interesting items, including a Dragon Heart and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Rivermouth Cave

Rivermouth Cave starts as a wolf's den leading to an underground cave filled with Bloodfiends. To reach Rivermouth Cave, head from Castle Ensis to the lake below. Follow the eastern road from the Site of Grace near the castle and approach the cliff where a soldier Messmer stands. Use the rocks to descend the cliff.

At the base of the cliff, enter the cave, guarded by a large poisonous pink flower. Proceed through the cave to the end, and find the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace. Exit the cave and head northwest under the Ellac Greatbridge. You'll also have to battle the boss Ulcerated Tree Spirit.

Continue moving northwest along the water past a swarm of flies to find the cave ahead. Inside, you will face Chief Bloodfiend. He is resistant to bleed and fire effects but weak to frost, Scarlet Rot, poison, and slashing attacks. Defeating him will reward you with 80,000 runes and the Bloodfiend Hexer Spirit Ash.

Ruined Forge Lava Intake

To reach the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, head along the main eastern road from the Castle Front Site of Grace. When the path turns uphill, instead go down to the south. Then pass through the valley, past Messmer soldiers' barricades and a dirt path around the trolls fighting the remaining soldiers.

Ahead, you will see a wall with several large torches. Crawl through a hole in the wall to enter the dungeon. Inside, you'll need to make your way through the dungeon and reach a lever to raise the large main pipe.

There is no final boss here, but there are numerous strong Golem Smith enemies. You can collect your reward at the altar beside the pipe. Notable items in this dungeon include the Greater Potentate's Cookbook (13), the Smithscript Dagger, the Anvil Hammer, and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Western Nameless Mausoleum

The Western Nameless Mausoleum is located in the starting area of Gravesite Plain, northwest of the Scorched Ruins, which is likely the first major structure you'll encounter. Since it is accessible immediately after entering the DLC, it does not require any dungeon puzzles or additional tough enemies.

It does not have its own Site of Grace, and summoning Spirit Ashes is not possible, but there is a nearby Marika Statue that will serve as your respawn point.

The local boss, Blackgaol Knight, is resistant to sleep and madness effects but weak to lightning and can be easily parried to trigger critical attacks. Defeating him will grant you the Solitude Armor Set, the Greatsword of Solitude, and 70,000 runes.
