In CS:GO, nearly every player spends over 50% of all their games on Mirage. Some know callouts only on this map, and it's no surprise because it's simple, clear, familiar to everyone, and perfectly balanced. Especially for you, we have collected the most effective strategies for the Mirage map for a lightning-fast attack on the bomb site. Even a novice can use top tactics on this map.
To start with, let's highlight a few points:
- Tactics are intended only for the attacking side. Describing many things in the context of defense is pointless because the basis of defense is proper communication. An important element here is knowledge of positions and complete trust in the captain.
- Tactics can be used both in a stack of friends and agreed with your teammates in a mix.
- No strategy will work always and 100%. Since CS:GO is a game of chance. Imagine that your strategy is to attack bomb site A, and the enemy team is simply stacking this zone. Naturally, after such a move your chances are not equal to zero, but the chance of victory significantly decreases.
#1 - Pistol Round on A
The pistol round is an important round, as it affects your victory, if not victory, then definitely the first 3 rounds.
On many maps, it has become customary that most often the attack side plays towards B on the first round. And this happens in 60-70% of cases. And Mirage is no exception.
- 1 player — CT spawn
- 1 player — Window
- 3 players – B site
This layout can be seen at any ranks and levels, because it's the default.
Our round looks like this: 4 attack players approach the pit on a shift, after buying 4 Kevlar vests in advance, and wait until the fifth one gets into position, from where he can smoke off top connector.
After throwing the smoke, the same player crosses over and throws 2 flashes towards the lamp. At the same time, the other four players rush to control the areas of stairs, connector, and jungle.
The bomb is planted depending on the situation, but ideally, of course, it's planted for connector.
#2 - Second-round eco on B
Sometimes going for five-man aggressive pushes works well, but most of the time, we get stuck while enemies with USP-S at long distances.
We suggest buying two players smokes and flashbangs, and the rest should buy kevlar armor. The round plan is to quickly throw a smoke at top mid and one towards the window. After that, four players with the bomb, preferably carrying it through mid.
Mid players quickly break through the defense on short. It's better to use the remaining flashbangs during this push, but use them as needed.
So, four players take control of mid, and the last player plays the anchor position on B site, hiding in the apps. This player's task is to be the last one to enter the site and prevent the opponents from killing their teammates from the apps.
The utility can be placed anywhere as needed."
#3 - Force-buy
In every game, there comes a moment, and often more than one, when one team or the other decides to buy weapons with their last pennies. It's important that it's not a full buy, but rather pistols and a full set of grenades or a rifle with a minimal number of grenades or even none.
Playing a force-buy against another force-buy means the probability of winning the round is always 50/50. But with this strategy, you can increase your chances of winning.
Let's imagine a situation where you've exchanged rounds with your opponent, and the next round will be played with an economic focus. It's crucial to understand that the opponent cannot afford an AWP.
So, the plan is as follows: all players buy whatever they can with their remaining money, prioritizing grenades. One player stays in the pit position and throws a smoke towards short.
Four players head towards mid. One of them crouches at the start and lowers their head, and the other three follow closely, ready to trade kills or take control of the window area. And we all know that any 1v1 trade is an advantage for the attacking side.
At the end of the day, with smoke to short, you all run into the con. At the same time, the pit player wakes up and gives you smoke to the jungle, and you crush KTs without any problems.
#4 - Slow Rash B
The most common strategy that has been paying off for years. All players fit in aps and scatter 3 smoke:
- Kitchen Window
- Left Arch
- Right Arch
Also, while still in apartments, the attacking team throws two Molotovs:
- Machine
- Forest/Bench
And, of course, not forgetting the flashbangs, you are required to throw the following flashes:
- Two flashes over the roof.
- One flash for "default" (default plant spot).
- One flash under "car."
- One flash under "window" in apartments.
The round is set up, now it's just a matter of playing the post-plant situation correctly.
#5 - Exit A
Traditional exits from the pit with the apps have become outdated, and your exit can be blocked by two smokes and flashbangs.
However, there's a good solution. Here's the plan: Four players go underground quietly, staying stealthy until they are noticed. They maintain their direction towards the A bombsite.

One player stands at the spawn and waits for the signal from their teammates in underground to throw a smoke towards short. After that, once the smoke is thrown, the player moves to the pit. Beforehand, an additional smoke is given to this player.
In the pit, this player throws a smoke towards jungle for their teammates. Meanwhile, the rest of the team, once they are noticed, rushes to clear the A site from defenders.
We have shared basic strategies for the Mirage map. However, these are not the definitive versions of these strategies; you can always refine or change them both on paper and during the round. Experiment, and sooner or later, you will become the masters of Mirage!
