In celebration of the game’s first anniversary, HoYoverse has announced a major update for Zenless Zone Zero, version 2.0, titled Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn. A special program aired on May 23 revealed a host of new features: a brand-new region, story progression, additional characters, new combat mechanics, unique modes, and anniversary rewards. The update will launch on June 6, 2025.

New Region and Storyline

Players will venture into Weifangdi, a mysterious area known for mining Hui, a rare mineral crucial for Hollow investigations. Here, the protagonist enrolls in the Yunkui Martial Arts School, teaming up with master Yixuan and her disciple Fufu to uncover the origins of a looming threat.

As the story progresses, players will learn more about the source of their powers and get caught in dangerous events linked to the unique properties of Hui.

New Agents and Combat Styles

Three new agents join the roster:

• Yixuan — An S-rank Minpo-class agent with a new mechanic that breaks enemy armor.
• Ju Fufu — A cute tiger girl with an explosive fighting style. Alongside her companion Tiger Cauldron, she can deal damage even when off-field.
• Pan Yinhu — A physical close-combat agent who also serves as a team support. In the story, he’s a master-chef of martial arts.

The update introduces a new combat type: Shadow Support, allowing players to trigger combos without switching active characters. Additionally, agents Astra Yao and Caesar return, and the S-rank Bangboo Bellion debuts.

New Modes, Activities, and Mechanics

The 2.0 update offers much more than just combat missions:

• Restaurant Management — Cook dishes, earn resources, and upgrade your establishment.
• Lumina Square Cinema — Watch in-game films with characters and strengthen bonds with them.
• Hollow Investigations Revamped — Featuring new enemies, traps, and a reality-distortion mechanic.
• Golden Soul Showdown — A mecha-piloting mode for intense battles against powerful foes.
• VR Trials — High-difficulty battles with unique conditions and special rules.

Anniversary Rewards

To celebrate the first anniversary, every player will receive:

• 30 free pulls
• A free S-rank agent
• A free S-rank W-Engine (Echo)
• Exclusive outfits for Aiy and Belle
• 1,600 Polychromes, 20 Encrypted Master Tapes, 10 Boopons, a title, and an avatar

Additionally, the Global Gourmet Celebration — an offline collaboration event with cafes in major cities around the world — will be held.

Technical Upgrades and Xbox Release

Version 2.0 marks the first release of Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox Series X|S, expanding the game’s reach to new audiences. Other improvements include:

• A redesigned user interface
• Enhanced navigation and 3D map
• A file compression system to reduce client size across platforms
