[Exclusive] torzsi after loss to Vitality: "We need to figure out how to catch up to them in the next season"

After MOUZ’s defeat to Vitality, we spoke with the team’s AWPer, Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás. We discussed their performance at the tournament, the challenges they faced this season, and their plans to improve. Ádám also shared his thoughts on catching up to the best teams next season.

You've picked Mirage, but something went wrong. What happened on Mirage?

Yeah, on Mirage… I feel like we were really slow. I don’t think we played together too much. We reacted late when we should have reacted earlier. We were really slow and sloppy. It just felt like they were dominating the game.

They were controlling what they wanted to do, and we gave them a lot of space. I think if you want to beat a team like Vitality, you need to have something up your sleeve. We had ideas as well, but we just didn’t execute them correctly — and it cost us the game.

What was said during the break? Next map was Inferno, and you showed such a great performance.

Yeah, we just said that nothing changes in a BO3. If you lose one map, you still need to win two. We knew what was coming, and we were prepared, because it was obvious they would pick it. It’s their punish pick versus us, because we were really not good on Inferno this season. But we finally stepped up, and it feels really good to show up strong on Inferno at the end of the season. We stepped up on Inferno — and also Dust2 lately — which were some of our worst maps. So, it felt good.

Train didn’t go your way. What went wrong in your game plan?

Yeah, I think on Train we were really scrappy. Sometimes we didn’t have utility, and things like that. I felt like they were more prepared to beat us a little bit. But also, as a team, we just didn’t show up.

We played Train two times this season. On the first map, I went 1–9 on T side — and now I went 1–12. You have to figure out what you're doing wrong on Train, or try to help the team a little bit more, because I don’t feel so useful on Train. And yeah, I think that process of the game just kills you off.

How do you evaluate the team’s performance at this tournament? Have you achieved the goals you wanted?

Yeah. I mean, obviously we came here for the trophy, but we’re really proud of what we achieved throughout the season. After changing siuhy, from Katowice onwards, we won PGL Cluj-Napoca, made it to the Grand Finals, Semifinals, again Grand Finals, then Semis again — and only losing to Vitality and maybe once to Falcons.

We are really proud of how we are playing and how good we are. But that’s the fight ahead, and that’s the truth. We need to figure out how to catch up to them in the next season. That’s the goal.

What’s next for MOUZ? Should we expect some reshuffles, or are you just going to take a break and keep going?

I mean, I’m not the one who decides that, but I’m sure we’ll stay together. I really hope we do, and I’m looking forward to the next season.
