In Borderlands 4, you can get powerful weapons right from the first hours if you know where to look. The developers added new mechanics that made the process more engaging: now you can respawn bosses, take on Ripper arenas, and participate in dynamic events. This means you no longer need to constantly exit and re-enter the game like in the previous installments.
Why You Should Farm Early
Early legendaries make progression much easier: you deal with enemies faster, earn more money, and advance through the story with less effort. Loot scales to your level, so farming at the start gives you items that remain useful even in the mid-game.

Core Farming Mechanics
Right after your first boss kill, you unlock Moxxi’s Big Encore — a machine that lets you respawn that boss for money. This is the main way to quickly farm for specific items. The map also features Ripper Drill Sites — special arenas with enemy waves and chances for rare drops. On top of that, there are dynamic events that reward extra loot, even more so when playing in co-op.

Best Early Farming Spots
One of the first and most effective spots is Splashzone. It’s a quick arena with a boss that can be easily respawned via Moxxi. He has a good drop rate for early legendaries, making this a highly recommended starting point.
Another solid option is Riptide Grotto. Here you’ll often find events packed with enemies that drop epic and legendary loot. This location is perfect if you’re looking for variety.

A third strong area is Prospects in the Fadefields region. This is a drill-site arena where you can efficiently farm bosses, resources, and money. If you want to target specific weapon types, these enemies are worth focusing on.
Once you’ve gathered a basic gear set, you can head to Tendercage or take on the boss duo Pango & Bango. They drop unique items, including weapons with special effects.
Tips for Efficient Farming
First, always finish the mission that unlocks Encore in a given arena before starting repeat fights. Sell unnecessary gear, since boss respawns cost money. To improve your chances for rare items, turn on Hard Mode. And if you’re playing with friends, dynamic events become even more rewarding, as loot is distributed individually.
