Ubisoft Brings Back Nightmare Fog Event in Extraction

The Toxic Tree is coming back to life—Ubisoft is relaunching the Nightmare Fog mode in Rainbow Six Extraction. Players have until May 29 to tackle one of the most intense crisis events.

The mode's core is clearing three subzones, each with a unique objective. In the first, you'll face random targets like hunts or triangulations. The second features a revamped nest deactivation, where you need to collect a sample from a distorted hive. This weakens the final boss—the Toxic Tree.

The third subzone is the climax. Players search for the tree and destroy its anchors while fending off waves of enemies. After complete destruction, it's time for the final finishing blow. This mode is shrouded in a purple fog, causing hallucinations and tunnel vision effects.

Players will see phantoms, hear fake sounds, and lose health at 100% exposure. To survive, you'll need to find neurostimulators in safe zones—they're the only escape from hallucinations.

Nightmare Fog also introduces the Rush Pistol—a gadget that grants temporary invulnerability and speed boosts. New cosmetic items and unique challenges are included. There's little time left to conquer the nightmare—or get lost in the fog again. The mode was previously held from May 12 to June 2, 2022.
