Ubisoft has introduced an update to the Rainbow Six Siege player protection system in Operation Y9S4, aimed at strengthening the game's anti-cheat and anti-toxicity mechanisms. Below are the main achievements and plans.
Anti-cheat fight
Reducing reports of cheaters: In October 2024, reports of cheaters on PC decreased by 40% compared to the summer peaks. On consoles, the number of reports remained stable, with the exception of an increase in December due to a bug in the crossplay settings.
MouseTrap system: The console anti-cheater MouseTrap, launched in Y9S4, applies severe sanctions to players who use the mouse and keyboard on consoles. Three detections lead to transfer to the PC match pool for 90 days with PC bounce enabled.
Solution for lag exploits: Ubisoft has successfully patched client-server synchronization exploits that exploited network lags. Players found to be using such methods were banned.
Improved encryption: In the Y9S4 operation, the company added more experts to protect the game's code, which helped reduce the frequency of cheat attempts with each update.
Instant sanctions for cheaters: The function of canceling matches when a cheater is banned has been introduced, thanks to which all players leave the invalid match without losing progress.
Fight against toxicity
Updated reputation system: The reputation system has become more transparent, allowing you to classify players as “Dishonorable”, “Disruptive”, “Respectable”, “Esteemed”, or “Exemplary”. In Y9S4, the majority of players (87.92%) are classified as “Respectable”.
Automatic chat moderation: After the launch of automatic text chat moderation, the number of toxic behavior reports decreased by 33% and the incidence of aggressive texting decreased by 80%.
Sanctions for names: We are actively fighting against unacceptable names used in privacy mode.
Plans for the future
Ubisoft is working on:
- Moderation of voice chat.
- Improving privacy settings for PC and consoles.
- Reforming the reporting system and adding more gradations for complaints.
- Improving the system of penalties for leaving the match.
The Y9S4 update for Player Protection is one of the most significant in Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft continues to strengthen its multi-level protection system, reducing the impact of cheaters and toxic players on the community.
