CAG Osaka's Historic Run — APAC Region Finally Competitive

The kick-off tournament RE:L0:AD 2025 has concluded, marking the official start of the new competitive season for Rainbow Six Siege. The tournament highlighted the current power dynamics—though, to be honest, only one team truly managed to astonish.

Yes, the group stage is still far from perfect. We've discussed this in a separate article—the format is confusing, and results largely depend on understanding specific rules and a bit of luck. Nonetheless, the playoffs provided some clear signals. The loudest among them was the explosive breakthrough of CAG Osaka.

CAG Osaka's Breakthrough: APAC in the Grand Final for the First Time

If anyone deserves special mention, it's CAG Osaka. Yes, they made it to the playoffs due to the "Enhanced Store" card, betting it all, they managed to gather the necessary points and secure a high place in the group, which allowed them to advance to the playoffs only in the fourth round of the group stage with a 2-2 result. In their group play, CAG Osaka defeated Elevate and Team Liquid (earning them the ire of Brazilian fans in the arena), but lost to FearX and BDS.

However, even considering they finished the group 2-2, this team still demonstrated true fighting spirit in the playoffs. Every playoff match was on the edge for them—all ended on the third map, but CAG Osaka consistently emerged victorious. On their path to the grand final, they defeated FearX 2:1 and Wildcard also 2:1.

Previous Results

In past international tournaments, CAG Osaka didn't particularly shine. For instance, at the BLAST R6 Major Montreal 2024, the team failed to advance from the first phase to the second—the crucial one where top teams meet. They stopped just short of advancing from the lower bracket and lost the decisive match.

However, at the BLAST R6 Major Manchester 2024, CAG managed to progress further—again through the lower bracket. Yet, in the second phase, using the Swiss system format, the team couldn't deliver the required level of play and was eliminated, winning only one match.

This team, however, managed to surprise at the Six Invitational 2025, where they showcased excellent play against top teams, notably defeating FURIA in the group, taking a map from FaZe, and eliminating M80 in the lower bracket.

At RE:L0:AD 2025, history repeated itself: CAG sent FearX and Wildcard home and... for the first time in 9 years, a team from the APAC region reached the grand final of a major tournament. A historic moment.
