Key Teams & Storylines to Watch

The competition will be fierce, with several top contenders aiming to claim the hammer.

  • W7M Esports (Brazil) enters as the reigning champions of the last Major and one of the tournament favorites. They have consistently dominated international competitions and will be the team to beat.
  • FaZe Clan has a long-standing legacy in R6 esports. With an experienced roster and a history of deep tournament runs, they are looking to reclaim the championship.
  • Team BDS remains Europe’s strongest hope, with a stacked roster capable of going all the way. Their high-impact fraggers and solid team coordination make them a serious threat.
  • Virtus.pro is another European powerhouse, known for its tactical depth and clutch playstyle. Their resilience in tough situations makes them a dark horse in the tournament.

There are also exciting underdogs to watch:

  • Team Falcons has shown rapid improvement, becoming the strongest MENA team in competitive Rainbow Six Siege. They reached the quarterfinals at the last Major, proving they can challenge top-tier teams. Their disciplined playstyle and growing international experience make them a real threat in this tournament.
  • Oxygen Esports returns to the global stage with the updated American-Brazilian lineup of veteran players and rising stars. Their recent performances in North America have been strong, and playing in front of a home crowd could give them extra motivation.
  • SCARZ is currently the most successful APAC team, with an aggressive and unpredictable gameplay. They reached the playoffs in multiple international events and have upset major teams before. If they can maintain their composure, they have the potential to make another deep tournament run

Another big storyline is North America's comeback. The region has struggled in past international events, but DarkZero Esports, Spacestation Gaming, and Unwanted want to change that. Playing on home soil could give them a major advantage.

Additionally, roster changes will play a major role in shaping the competition. Several teams have revamped their lineups, and how these changes impact synergy and performance will be crucial. Teams with long-standing rosters may have the upper hand in coordination, while newly assembled squads could bring fresh dynamics that catch opponents off guard.

Historical Context

The Six Invitational has seen legendary performances over the years, with some teams cementing their place in Siege history.

  • Past champions: G2 Esports remains the only team to win back-to-back Six Invitationals (2018 & 2019). The 2023 winners, G2 Esports, and 2024 champions, W7M Esports, will both aim to add another title to their legacy.
  • Dominant regions: Latin America has been the strongest region in recent years, with Brazilian teams regularly making deep runs. Europe, however, remains a top contender with organizations like BDS and G2 consistently at the top.
  • Cinderella stories: The Six Invitational has always been a stage for underdogs. In 2024, Team Falcons made a surprising deep run, proving that emerging regions can challenge the best.

Predictions & Expectations

While predicting the winner of such a competitive event is difficult, several teams stand out as likely contenders. W7M, FaZe, and BDS are considered the favorites, but anything can happen in Siege. North American teams will have home crowd support, which could help them break their recent struggles on the international stage. Expect major upsets, especially from teams that have shown inconsistency in the past. Who will take the hammer this year? The action begins on February 3, 2025!
