Ubisoft is gearing up for the launch of Siege X — the most extensive update in Rainbow Six Siege's history, scheduled for June 10, 2025. This update will not only visually transform the game but also introduce new mechanics, modes, and revamped maps, marking the beginning of a new era for the shooter.

Global Gameplay Changes

New Electricity Mechanics

Now, when operators come into contact with electricity, they won't take damage but will be slowed down. The sound effects of electric shock remain. Additionally, the old mechanic returns: electricity will once again destroy defenders' gadgets.

Changes to Jackal

The operator Jackal now has 5 scans instead of 3. Each scan only pings the enemy once, and he can no longer see how long ago the footprints were left.

Jager and Wamai Gadgets

Jager and Wamai's gadgets will now catch the same list of attackers' gadgets.

Changes to Thunderbird

Thunderbird's gadget will no longer heal enemies. It was previously discussed that her device would attack enemies with spikes, but this idea was abandoned.

Sound Settings

In Siege X, only two levels of dynamic sound range will remain: "high" and "low." The "low" level will limit the output audio signal so that the loudest sounds become slightly quieter without affecting sounds through several walls.

New Credit Packs

Credit packs will be changed: options for 3300, 5000, 7200, and 15000 will definitely appear. There is no information yet on whether the 600 and 1200 credit packs will be retained.

References and Collaborations

Borderlands Mask

An interesting detail has appeared in Siege X: on the Skyscraper map, in one of the rooms, there are two mannequins with samurai armor, and one of them now has a Borderlands mask instead of the traditional samurai mask. This is a clear reference to an upcoming collaboration that will involve operators like Mozzie and IQ.

Clash Rework and New Elite Skin

In season Y10S2, the operator Clash will receive a rework. Her shield will become wider but without side panels, like Montagne's. Also, the shield will no longer deal electric damage. Additionally, Clash will receive a new elite skin that will change her appearance and animations.

New Dialogue System Between Operators

Siege X will introduce a dialogue system between operators, similar to the one in the cooperative mode "Terrorist Hunt." These interactions will reveal more details of the Rainbow Six lore and make the game more lively and atmospheric.

New Editions and Transition to a Free-to-Play Model

With the release of Siege X, the game will transition to a free-to-play model. The free version will provide access to most modes, including the new Dual Front mode, and allow unlocking up to 26 operators through progression. Access to ranked matches and the Siege Cup tournament will require purchasing the game or one of the new editions with bonuses:

• Siege X ELITE: access to all modes, including ranked and Siege Cup, as well as first and second-year operators.
• Siege X ULTIMATE: everything from ELITE, plus operators from the first to the ninth year inclusive and a skin set for Nokk, Warden, Frost, and Maverick.

Revamped Maps: Visual and Gameplay Changes

In Siege X, five classic maps — Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Café — have been completely revamped. Updates include improved lighting, shadows, 4K textures, and interactive environmental elements like fire extinguishers, gas pipes, and metal detectors. These changes not only enhance visual perception but also add new tactical possibilities. 

Additionally, one significant change on Chalet: in the basement, a trash bin is now covered with a metal plate to prevent defenders from shooting through while attackers plant.

The innovations promise to satisfy both veteran players and attract new fans, making the game accessible and engaging for everyone. This update is set to be a powerful boost for the Siege esports scene, especially considering the Kick-off tournament RE:L0:AD 2025, which will be held on the new version of the shooter. Moreover, Siege X will become a source of new excitement for fans thanks to its thrilling mechanics, lore details, and revamped content.
